  1. Toy Story 4 - $118.0 Million (new release)
  2. Child's Play - $14.0 Million (new release)
  3. Aladdin - $12.2 Million
  4. Men in Black: International - $10.7 Million
  5. The Secret Life of Pets 2 - $10.2 Million
  6. Rocketman - $5.6 Million
  7. John Wick 3 - $4.0 Million
  8. Godzilla: King of the Monsters - $3.7 Million
  9. Dark Phoenix - $3.6 Million
  10. Shaft - $3.5 Million
  11. Anna - $3.5 million (new release)

Annalist came in with estimates that TS4 would make between $165-200 million domestic this weekend, and by those expectations were underwhelmed. Personally, I think it’s because how the 3rd wrapped up the franchise and there wasn’t a natural demand for another entry. With that said, it still did incredibly well, with the 4th highest opening ever for an animated film behind Incredible's 2 & Child's Play is a hit or a miss.

Me & Daughter enjoy TS4 and recommended to go see it.

June 21-23 mojo's box office weekend

Looks nice, but I'm probably not watching another Disney animation. Not until they make at least a few traditional animations. Was never a big Toy Story fan anyway.

Will I understand much Toy Story 4 if I haven't seen 2 and 3?

@horgen: This is a good question. I never saw 3, and I only saw 2 once and only half-remember it.

@davillain-: That is a pretty massive lead over the other movies. For so many complaining that a fourth movie wasn't needed, a lot of people still were willing to spend the money to go see it lol.

I saw the first one when it was released and haven't seen it since I think...

@Ovirew: Yeah, it's a mix rather it needs a sequel after the 3rd film wraps it up nicely but the 4th deals with Woody's life as a toy, so it had more to tell.

Skip Toy Story 2, 3 however, you won't be missing much not seeing 3 other then Buzz, Woody, & the gang have a new home and a new owner. But it's worth watching 3 so you won't miss much on a certain character.

It was a cute movie for the family. I think trackers and maybe Disney themselves got a little overzealous. They tend to see everything in dollar signs instead of wondering if they have a good movie on their hands or not. I think their buyout of Fox is going to make them start sweating a little, being that Dark Phoenix is already the first megaflop from that purchase.

I thought it was funny that the new Child's Play movie didn't gain much traction despite purposely coming out that day to counteract Toy Story.
