So I got into both McGill and University of Toronto

Where to go though...Both schools are equally as good relatively so it's down to the cities...

Which is better:

Toronto:

Pros:

- Mostly English
- Most diverse city in the world
- Lots to do obviously
- Better weather than Montreal

Cons:

- 19+ drinking age
- A lot of corporate things

Montreal:

Pros:

- 18+ drinking age, I can do anything there therefore in first year
- Best night life in Canada and one of the best of North America
- Lots of diversity in McGill
- Lots to do as well

Cons:

- Awful weather
- Quebecois superiority complex

Help :(

I've only been to Montreal for vacation, but I gotta say the nightlife is amazing. Oh and they have Peel's Pub.

Well I would choose Montreal, Toronto is dieing and it's a downright ugly city. Also learning some French really wouldn't be a bad thing, and Montreal is incredibly English now so I wouldn't worry abnout that too much.

Not true. I got ripped off by a stripper once for that exact reason. :(

Well I lived in Ottawa a few years and Montreal was cool place but never did like the whole French language first thing. I like Toronto too though because my family would visit once in a while when I lined in Western New York. Gah I don't know what is better in the long run but if I had to choose now I'd go to Toronto.

I would go to Montreal as i live close to Toronto and go their all the time and would say Montreal has more to offer and would be more of an experience. Although why would you say Toronto is "American in nature"?

Why would you say that? Especially since only 51% of the population is white...

It's just how people in Vancouver see it, a lot of us... And this thread ain't about that anyways

LOL. My buddy and I were talking about which states were the most Canadian after listening to our curling team's ridiculous Michigan/Minnesota/Canadian type accent.

I'd say Toronto. Being from the Northeast of the U.S., a lot of people from Quebec come down and generally they are pretty rude.

For some reason, I am not all to fond of what I've heard of French Canadia. Can't really put my finger on it. But it would enough to convince me to go to Toronto if I was on the fence on deciding where to go. Just my $.02. I am an American, so my entire post could be considered completely irrelevant.

Assuming you'll spend most of your time in downtown Montreal if you choose McGill, there is nothing to worry about in terms of language and culture barrier. Heck, most of the shops, restaurants and clubs surrounding the campus are likely to speak to you in English before French.

I'm biased towards Toronto, just because it sounds about ten times more badass to say you're from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, then saying you're from Montreal.

Well whatever you figure is best for you. Victoria is a great place to live though

Yeah it is nice but I'd rather go to UBC and live in Vancouver then go to Victoria, just a waste
