During the campaign, I had Obama signs ripped out of my yard and even set on fire. But the crap that's been going on since Obama was elected is getting scary:

The Nashville schoolteacher was picking his daughter up from school. At a stop sign near the Belmont campus, a larger vehicle pulled up behind their car, and the driver began honking and gesturing angrily toward the right bumper and its Obama/Biden '08 sticker.

"I raised my hands palms up and shrugged. He then eased up behind my car so I could only see the grille of his SUV and blew his car horn, nonstop," Duren said.

Duren eased through the intersection and continued on his way home. The next thing he knew, the SUV was closing in rapidly in his rear-view mirror, accelerating straight toward him, the driver still flipping him rude gestures and pointing at the bumper sticker.

The other driver, identified by Metro police as 70-year-old Nashville retiree Harry K. Weisiger, accelerated and bashed into the bumper, directly over the Obama sticker. Duren tried to calm his frightened daughter as he pulled to a stop and prepared to get out of the car and deal with what he thought was a routine fender bender.

But the other driver wasn't finished. He rammed the car again and started pushing it off the road, while the little girl inside screamed in terror. After a few more pushes, the SUV accelerated away, leaving a shaken Duren to call 911 and try to reassure his daughter. --Story.

Isn't the whole idea of a Republic one where we can voice our opinions and not have to fear reprisals?

Seriously?

It's really troubling when you have to fear for your safety because you support a specific politician.

That is too far. I mean I hated Bush, but I would never, and I'm pretty sure most, would not go and try to physically harm another person because they support him. When it comes down to it, a democratic and a republican president aren't going to change things drastically. Most people are going to live pretty similar lives regardless of what president there is. To actually want to cause harm on another person just because of their political alignments is crazy.

Yes. They set my Obama sign on fire. They got to see the end of my 12-guage and the inside of a jail cell thereafter, however.

Funniest thing is they lost their job over it and now the house next to me is for sale. Not my loss.

Some people get too infatuated with their political allegiance. Heck, up here in the middle-of-nowhere in Canada there were people posting the "Why so socialist?" Obama pictures all around high school and university grounds

Hopefully the idiot in the SUV will be given a chance to calm down in jail. Inexcusable behaviour.

It's worrying to have these cases of dogmatic hatred just because of other people's political alignment.

Pure, unadulterated WIN. 2nd Amendment always prevails, along with the local authorities  Sadly your ex neighbor is likely a bigger 'bagger now, screaming non-sense and vandelising other people's stuff.

I had an Obama shirt on once and was walking through the mall, a bunch on marines stopped right infront of where i was walking and called me the F and P word like "look at that F kid with that P on his shirt, go home you F!!" It didnt really phase me too much because it takes ALLOT to get me the slightest angry, but wth man, marines? How can arrogant people like that be defending our country? If that's Americas face on the front lines no wonder everyone hates us. :?

I'm pretty sure no one standing before our troops on the front lines takes the time to find out how arrogant they are or what political party they ally with. And to be honest, if they risk their lives for our freedom, I think they deserve to be arrogant.

I think its more horrid when a Marine does such a thing than a regular civilian, to be honest. The act of them swearing and threatening another American for their political standing is one of the most dishonorable things they can do since their job is to protect such freedoms.

He never said they threatened him. And for all he knows they could have been soldiers brought home from Iraq just to find out they were being redeployed to Afghanistan because of Obama. Or they could have just been having a bad day. But they also protect freedom of speech which apparently was all they were exercising.

I'm not saying they were justified in doing that. But if they were marines who saw combat they could also have been mentally shaken up. There are so many possible reasons they acted that way that simply calling them arrogant probably isn't very accurate. No one is more directly influenced by a president's foreign policy than our armed forces.

Obama hasn't exactly shaken up our foreign policy in a way that would affect troops. I don't see how any traumatic issues he had would translate to bashing someone's political views.

Your sign being burned plus a story of a 70 year old man with some mental issues causing an accident = something getting out of hand? I'm not sure where you're point is getting at. 1. Random stories 2. ? 3. "This is getting out of hand"

I don't know how his decisions in office have affected our troops aside from two of my uncles and one cousin being sent into Afghanistan. All I'm saying is that there are a lot of different factors that could have played into the way those marines acted. While their actions were not appropriate, judging them without knowing the reasons behind it is very immature.

I am noticing a lot of people acting crazy because Obama is president. I dont remember people in such a large number acting like drunken teenagers when Bush was pres. Yes, people disagreed with him, but i dont remember a large number of democrats reaching a level a lot of republicans are at now. And then you have jokes like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck feeding the "hungry" with their "nonsense." As for Palin, why cant she just stay out of the spot light?

I am noticing a lot of people acting crazy because Obama is president. I dont remember people in such a large number acting like drunken teenagers when Bush was pres. Yes, people disagreed with him, but i dont remember a large number of democrats reaching a level a lot of republicans are at now. And then you have jokes like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck feeding the "hungry" with their "nonsense." As for Palin, why cant she just stay out of the spot light?Fuhgeddabouditt

Do you live in the US cause you just blew my mind with that statement. I almost laughed when I read that. There were so many riots going on under bush and so much damage being caused do to said riots. Do you even remember The guy who went around slashing republicans tires at an event?

Ment to say elections day.... in 2004

It's common for liberals to ignore what their party has done in the past when the Republicans are on the news today.

I was aware of roits and the slashing but the way I see it is the Republicans (not all of em) are acting like idiots. Far worst.

I have to disagree with that as well. The rioting was so ovderdone and used by hardcore democrats it praticly became the new trendy thing to do. I can't believe your going to say that republicans are acting worse campared to years of what has been done to the cities and the people caused by rioting or just morons in general.
