The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I had to read that in 8th grade. Makes a lot of sense. I only liked it cus i'm a huge Robert Frost fan.

Its not homework. LMAO, I graduated a couple weeks ago and I dont start College till August. I'm just wondering if there are any intelligent posters out there who have an opinion on this particular poem and would like to share it.

I prefer Fire and Ice by Robert Frost. I'm pretty sure it goes like this:

Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice

From what I've tasted of desire, I hold with those who favor fire

But if I had persish twice, I think I know enough of hate,to say that for destruction ice is also great

And would suffice

Not sure if thats it exactly, thats just from memory...

There's a great song, my favorite song, thats all about conformity and its consequences that follow it called Blinded in Chains by Avenged Sevenfold. More or less about "the road taken" the inverse of Frost's poem and give a unique perspective on the inside of conformity

The poem I like best is an Australian one, I can't remember its name and who it's by, so that's kind of unhelpful. But it was about two friends meeting up after years apart. One has become a city person, the other stays a country boy. They find that thay've drifted apart as friends, and that their views and perspectives have changed greatly. Good meaning, great poem.
