Give the TC props for trying, but it seems people are doing exactly what he was trying to avoid.

Anyway, this is one of most gorgeous songs I've heard in awhile:

I like how it sounds kind of "old" but in a good way. It has a sort of classical baroque feel to it at first. Then there are those military drums that kick in during the "Who am I to decide what should be done?" parts, the epic electric guitar at the end, and the wonderful "oohing" and "aaahing" of the choir. I've honestly never heard a pop ballad that sounds quite like this; there is a deep undercurrent of melancholic spirituality. And while there are a few overly cryptic lyrics, there are some gorgeous lyrics as well:

Who am I to decide what should be done?

If this is the end then let it come

Let it come, let it rain

Let it rain, rain all over me

Like the tide, let it flow

Let it wash all over me

Over me, let it wash all over me

Over me, let it wash all over me

I prefer this style for Mumford. I'm not digging their newest single, "Believe".

been listening to a lot of the 'new retro' stuff that is out there. As some one who grew up in the 80s a lot of these new artists do a really good job of recreating the sound that I loved as a kid~

I do not have a running list of my favorite singers, but Billy Joel is perhaps my all-time favorite. His voice is impossible for me to dislike, and everything he released is good.

And he's one of the few artists I know of that can change his sound so dramatically, but still have it be equally as entertaining.

He's okay. Sometimes he can be excruciatingly awful (Uptown Girl, Allentown) but he has a few excellent songs. Summer Highland Falls is one of my all time favorites:

Been listening to Earl Sweatshirt's new album I Don't Like Shit, I Don't go Outside.

Been a fan of Odd Future stuff since Tyler released Bastard and for the most part I feel their stuff is silly, dumb, and sometimes self parody. Earl's stuff feels like the only one of the group (sans Frank Ocean) that is trying to take his work seriously. Short album, but really hits hard with the themes he's presenting. Plus his flow is gritty as all hell and makes for some awesome tracks. 7/10

I think a lot of it sounds like the musical version of sludge. But I don't dislike metalheads as people and I don't know any people that dislike them.
