Is there any stores that have closed that you wish could comeback? I know retail is dying but damn those memories are strong I would love just to step into one of those stores just for the nostalgic factor alone. For me it's these. Do you miss any dead stores?

Circuit City

The Bon-Ton

Comp USA

Linens 'n Things

Blockbuster video

Media Play

Toys R' Us, K·B Toys.

Was thinking about this same thing a couple of days ago. I wish they would open and stay open just for me, circa 1993, like a museum.

I wish Netflix went from the 17 warehouses it has now back to the 50 it had at its peak. I used to be able to rent twice as many discs each month. Not sure what people find so great about streaming one twentieth of the movies Netflix DVD has.

  • Blockbusters was da shits!
  • I never like Circuit City and Best Buy is were it's at.
  • K-mart, a much better store then Wal-Mart in some ways.
  • Toys R' Us and I never want to grow up but I did :(
  • RadioShack a much better electronic hardware shop for the little things.
  • Sears, went too big, too fast.
  • JC Penney just like Sears, went too big, too fast.

Those are the store I want to see a return despite I bad mouth Circuit City, I'd still like to see it reopen and let me tell you this. The problem with Sears, RadioShack, K-mart etc. and most auto parts stores is this! When you need something, the answer you get is "We don't have it but, We can order it" Well let me tell you something, I can order it myself! And none of them really thought that the Internet would take off. Amazon came and took over.

@davillain-: You can't kill the Sears store out where i live--most of them closing, but this one refuses to die.

That is very true. I like Best Buy too that's where I still get my PS4 games from I refuse to go to Gamestop. And for me there was something about Circuit City that makes me nostalgic for it I just can't put my finger on it I think I liked the fact that you could buy Video cards there also the store just had a very 90's feel to it even in the 00's.

None. If they're closed, it's for good reason.

Nobody is mentioning Hills? Shame. Also Ames. They were both just great stores for my family to shop at when I was young.

I know they aren't defunct, but I wish there were more A & W Restaurants and Waffle Houses around here. I take big trips on days off every couple of months just to go to one of them lol. Oh, but another great one to mention is Big Boy restaurants. I would road trip for that shit.

Not really any specific store comes to mind, though I did enjoy browsing the shelves at Blockbuster years ago.

Mostly what I miss are family owned gaming shops. I remember in high school there was this store run by a thirty year old something husband with his wife in a strip mall. It was the ultimate man cave. Very cozy, with all types of games on shelves, the walls packed with them alongside toy figures and all types of cool stuff. They had many systems hooked up to play with a couch with a good selection of games, with a few arcade cabinets as well. Great people who I became good friends with. You could hang out there for hours just sharing in the enjoyment of gaming.

Unfortunately, either Software Etc or EB Games came around (can’t remember which) and they got hit very hard and eventually went out of business. It was terrible to watch. I mourn the death of those stores to the corporate monster. It’s a real loss.

All the local music shops. Found lots of interesting music and people in those places. Pegasus Records and Tapes was a personal favorite.

I'll say Blockbuster. Not necessarily for films but for the awesome games section that my local store had. It wasn't just the place for renting games but was also a part of the education process.

The kiosks let you try out the games and consoles not to mention the huge print section they had for video games. I would say the fall of print media in gaming is something I miss as much as Blockbuster.

Haha I misread the title as 'Stories' and immediately though of Firefly.

I don't really care about stores.

Maybe Radio Shack for those times when you need a special resistor of other electronics component and you don't want to wait 24-48 hours for an Amazon order.

I miss video rental stores.

I'll add Toys R Us too even though it's still up and running online here in Australia.

Definitely Toys R Us and Blockbuster, although I probably still wouldn't go there anymore.
