Wow, well good luck steve and thank you for being an inavator whereas bill gates couldn't. Thank you for the amazing brand and amazing products you have created, i mean, the ipod revolutionized the world of music, then the iphone, then the ipad, I hope your company continues to do what microsoft can't, and thats inovation. Thank you Steve Jobs, good luck

Biigboss

Oh, Steve Jobs is an innovator? So if I follow his example I can be an innovator too? Okay, lemme try:

Hey OT, check out this apple, I bought it for 80 cents. I only bought five, though, so I'll sell them to you for $20 a pop. What's that, you can buy apples at the store yourself for 80 cents? Yeah, but they won't have my cool corporate logo, and then you won't look as cool as that attractive-looking person standing over there eating one of MY apples.

Am I an innovator yet?

Usually I wouldn't care about this stuff, if it wasn't for the fact they are stealing over video game companies.

The deal still has to go through EU and federal regulators.

Even though I have never liked the Mac products (with good reason, overpriced, closed, and just not that good), his innovation on the iDevices, namely the iPhone and the iPad changed the cell phone and tablet industry (some could argue that he revived/created the table industry). Certainly a great man, and I hope that he did not resign due to health problems. I dont think anyone can replace him at Apple, and I can foresee their stocks falling in the near future, as well as the amount of innovation coming out from there decreasing.

Kinda disturbed by the trolling in this thread. The guy has pancreatic cancer and is most likely stepping down as CEO due to deteriorating health. In fact, were it not for his amazing success at saving Apple from oblivion, he'd probably be dead right now.

Eh, I wouldn't call it trolling. Not everyone has to care deeply about Steve Jobs. Some people probably do just take this as an interesting tidbit of news to make quips about.

Personally I like the guy. When I was younger, I loved him, until I first used a Mac and realized it had no command-line. I stopped caring after that.

But he resurrected my interest with the iPhone.

You people saying that Apple isn't an innovator are crazy. The iPod was an innovative product. Apple stomped on everybody that tried to sell in the mp3 player market. The tech was above and beyond what everyone else was selling. The first iPhone pushed the cell phone market forward. Who knows what phones we would be stuck with without it. I remember the first "iPhone killer" the Samsung Instinct. That phone was no where near the iPhone. Yes today the Android market is right there or even better than the iPhone, but it took years for that to happen. And don't even get me started on the iPad vs tablets. The other companies are still tripping over themselves trying to make their devices as appealing. You folks need to get real.

Wow, the hate is strong here, a lot of apple products are overpriced, especially the PCs in my opinion, however the quality is usually high.

Like it or not, they sell the most products because usually the i version is the best version.

This could be one of the reasons Google saves all of that web search data:

Even though I don't like some of Apple's policies or their products, I'm concerned about the future of Apple. I do not want them to fail like they did last time Jobs was not the CEO of the company, hopefully because he is still a chairman, and hopefully if his health permits, his company will still survive and do well. Love or hate Apple/Steve, if Apple goes under it will give Microsoft a complete monopoly on the computer industry. Mac OSX was really the only other operating system that could even remotely compete with Windows and on top of that the competition between Apple and Microsoft has caused Windows 7 to be created, which is an amazing operating system. Moreover I do not want to see people lose their jobs at Apple because they are struggling. So best of luck to Steve Jobs and his health, and Apple.

Apple is too big and successful to be crippled by it. That said, it's propably the start of stagnation for them, the same way Gates departure started it for Microsoft.

The stocks took basically no hit, and will only grow with Iphone 7 and Ipad 3 hitting by end of next year. Maybe in a year or 2, after all the Jobs creations have been pushed out and it's this guy's turn to step up will it matter. But as long as there is status hipsters, apple will always sell.

No, saying that his success allows him virtually unlimited money and resources for the best cancer-fighting treatments in the world.

And getting bumped up on a liver transplant list probably cost him a huge fortune too. (I'm just assuming that part.)

I'm no hipster but if I was, I deffinately would not own one of them iPod things, or one of those Macintoshes, those are way to conformist. Vinyl records and an Apple II retrofited with modern hardware and linux is the way to go.
