how did this tradition begin?

I believe it is just a way of honoring a fallen person. Sort of like setting a place setting for a deceased family member, etc. etc.

I don't understand.
its a us gang thingWhy are you so obsessed with gang culture? This is your second thread on it. And only a few people here probably know anything about it.Meh as much as I hate wasting alcohol, a 3 dollar gesture doesn't bother me if they feel it honored their passed friend.

[QUOTE="warbmxjohn"]Ease up dawg, he's just trying to get in where he fit in.. :PI just find it funny.....And a waste of good booze. If it helps put their grieving minds at ease, it wasn't really a waste, at least how I figure it. I agree it is funny (weird but not so much comical) but so are most rituals surrounding death. A three dollar 40 for a friend that beside the circumstances would be there drinking with them, is a gesture I can understand.. Much more than a 10 thousand dollar casket, on a cemetery plot that goes for a few grand as well.. On top of a few thousand dollars of ceremonies.. But yes I definitely agree, that wasted booze, is alcohol abuse :P[QUOTE="mattykovax"]Why are you so obsessed with gang culture? This is your second thread on it.
