Well that is good, though Obama would have vetoed the bill in its current state anyway.

But there's an even worse bill being entertained at this moment. SOPA on a ROPA.

You do know SOPA'S sister bill PIPA is still not dead right?

Sopa was just used to distract people away from its sister bill.

Shoot one missle down, see another one behind it.

I'm not sure if I'm suprised or not.. But it's gone for now and that's what matters.

Have to look out for when someone tries another bill some time down the road..

meh, i stand by my words, if the government wants to do something its going to do it, they don't care about the interest of its people, this may seem like a victory but trust me Sopa or Pipa are going to happen. We may all voice our opinons, shutdown our websites but those corporations who want SOPA and PIPA to pass have millions and millions of dollars and we all know money runs this country. its sad, really

It was always DOA... just pandering by members of congress to their industry supporters; the hysteria was largely limited to those online and the easily roused. Still... yaaaaay.

Just my opinions on things, I'm not going to sit here and act like this is a milestone, the thing was just shelved and there still is another bill called PIPA thats still kicking. Like i said, i'm just calling it like I see it, their going to throw a lot more money behind this to get it passed. The fight isn't over yet

TheFallenDemon

You will never beat the pirates just so many of them. Not only that there are so many flaws. I personally would rather they focus on attacking the people who put up the files for people to take as they are the source of the problem

not to mention while I dont condone it you have people like Notch of minecraft who say to pirate their games if you dont have the money then buy it when you do

But this bill is not about pirates its about how freedom of the internet could be compromised because of broad language

Like I said before about such IP debates, even if such initiatives are passed, I just don't see how there is any political will and enough sophistication for the federal government to enforce them. They have enough trouble with existing initiatives, and IP "piracy" is just too entrenched.

We aren't out of this yet, Protect IP Act (PIPA) (SOPA's brother) is still alive and kicking if I recall correctly.
