So you're about to meet the president/prime minister

So there you are standing in a line with a bunch of other individuals about to meet the president/prime minister of your country. He goes along the line shaking everyones hand and smiling, sometimes exchanging a few words. Then, he comes to you.

He puts his hand out...But what do you do?

You say "he" a lot. Our Prime Minister is a "she". I would most likely just act like I did when I met the opposition deputy leader last year - lightly shake her hand, say it is a pleasure to meet you, and comment on the first policy to come to mind.

Shake his hand and exchange a few words politely. I may not like the guy, but he's nothing to get rude or violent over.

Shake his hand loosely, cause I don't really like what he does. But I'm not out to offend. I get my revenge when it's voting time.

if i was meeting President Obama, i would greet him well but also tell him he needs to be a bit more tactful with his opponents. Don't give up on the peace process either, and continue to lean on Arab allies for more social reforms.

If i was meeting King Abdullah of Saudi, i would greet him well as well, but i'd quickly plead him to do 3 things. decree explicit women's rights, establish and promote reading and libraries across the country, and allow for a freer marketplace.

I wouldnt extend my hand. I hate typicalities and its not like I have any especial respect for presidents/prime ministers.

Shake his hand and tell him he needs to get working on some issue, and then when he tries to let go I hold on and make him promise to work on said issue.

I have heard this has worked on one of the former presidents in the past.
