Muse is great becauseof how they effortlessly blend classic music into heavy rock music on an epic and over-the-top scale and Bellamy's incredibly awesome voice, not to mention there are only three members (four for live shows, but he just does the little extra things)And when they play live, they don't hold anything back. Every song they play is played flawlessly and with tons of energy.
They actually aren't that popular. Not in the mainstream sense, I guess. If you know a lot of Muse songs, chances are you're a huge fan, or at least like them. You won't be able to go up to most people on the street and be able to talk to them about Muse.
Most of the songs you hear on the radio will be their most mainstreamish and accessible songs- a majority of which come from their newest album. If you want to check out their more progressive and heavier side (which everybody should) take a listen to:
