Seeing how Arrested Development is probably my favorite show ever, yeah I like sitcoms. For the most part I can't stand a laugh track though.

Sitcoms are not necessarily bad, but very over used/made on US TV to past the point of annoyance.

US TV as a whole seemed to fail last decade.

I was off sitcoms since Seinfeld ended but have recently discovered a hilarious show, The Big Bang Theory. My new favorite.

Seinfeld is a show that can never be taken over! I've seen many episodes multiple times, and they are still funny!

Also, Friends is bleh.

Are you being Served is good. It's an old British comedy show.

If by "fail" you mean "best decade of all-time for TV", I agree.

Arrested Development
The Wire
The Sopranos
Lost
Dexter
Mad Men
Breaking Bad
Deadwood
Six Feet Under
30 Rock
The Office
Californication
24
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Rome
Supernatural
The Shield
Sons of Anarchy

I'm not sure what other decade can even come close to competing with that.

The main channels (excluding cable/pay service like HBO) have been pretty meh last decade.

The few good shows were

A. Got little attention and died (Arrested Development)

B. Was cheapened down to maximise ratings, and lost their original good quality (al la shows like Prison Break, really how many ******* seasons are there)

Im also watching friends. I enjoy it mostly for Chandler and Joey's comedy, which really puts a smile on my face most episodes. I also watch How I met Your Mother, which is a modern day friends, and equally as funny. Im hoping the plot doesnt wear on itself though. I still havent watched Scrubs or Seinfeld. I plan on doing so.

Occasionally, but not usually. I usually prefer the ones without a laugh track, like Arrested Development, 30 Rock, or Futurama. Seinfeld is an exception in that it uses a laugh track and I still love it. Normally laugh tracks really turn me off. I know they're tricking me into thinking that something was funny, because when you hear people laughing, the natural tendency is to laugh along with them even if you didn't get the joke. The problem is that the mere existence of a laugh track often leaves me questioning whether ANYTHING in the show was actually funny.

Like, I'll see something REALLY funny, then the audience laughs hard. I then think, "wait...did I think that was funny because it was funny, or because the laugh track indicated that I was supposed to think it was funny?" And in the vast majority of cases, I think I start second-guessing genuine laughs and my overall enjoyment is diminished.

M*A*S*H is another good example. Great show, but it really didn't need the laugh track. The movie didn't have a laugh track, the show didn't need one either. I love M*A*S*H, but it would've been a lot better if they didn't try to trick me into thinking it was funny.

I think that laugh tracks just need to die, period. If it's truly funny, it doesn't need a laugh track, so cut that **** out.

I used to watch sitcoms quite a bit, usually finding one that I liked and watching it endlessly until it started becoming less interesting. Started with home improvement, then Friends, then Two and a Half Men for a short amount of time. I haven't been able to find a sitcom that has been overly interesting in the last few years though, and as a whole their comedy is getting dry due to the amount I watched them as a child. Nowadays I usually watch them when I have nothing else to do.
