Did you ever buy a single on cassette? Let me know, I'd be interested! :)

Just before they disappeared completely from shops I bought Cleopatra's Favourite Cat by Spin Doctors. Still such a class song.

I also bought Inside by Stiltskin which were a made up band for a jeans advert. Which happens to have amazing artwork.

I think they were about £2.50 back in the late 90's.

I also had Simpsons Sing the Blues which was an album but just wanted to mention it. I think the Bartman got into the charts though.

Do any of your still work? Magnetic Media had a limited shelf life, especially if it was played often. Cassette tapes here a bit more durable than most though.

They are probably in landfill somewhere. Nothing remains from that era I don't think.

I never bought singles but used to buy those compilations from record companies that would put a bunch of songs from various bands under their label that are of the same genre of music. That was basically one of the few ways I was able to discover new bands I'd like back then. The other options were radio or Mtv.

I had a few hip hop songs. I have long got rid of them.

I had 1 single that was given away at a Family Values concert. It was Ice Cube, from the War and Peace album I believe. I was mostly metal and punk growing up. Don't think there were too many singles in that genre.

I had the Blues Brothers soundtrack on cassette. Played the shit out of it and it stopped working.

On a side note, watching youths these days try to put a cassette in to a cassette player is most amusing.

I never bought any pre-recorded tapes. Although I did use them a lot for my Walkman until I got a Minidisc player/recorder.
