1. Texas is 44% white or non hispanic white alone, 39% Hispanic/Latino, 12 % black and 4.5% Asian

Source: http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2014/01/24/in-2014-latinos-will-surpass-whites-as-largest-racialethnic-group-in-california/

Most Texas Latinos of Mexican descent are brown and look similar to people in the middle east. There are some African immigrants in the middle east as well. Middle easterners and Texans look similar on average

2.Both love guns

3. Both are super religious.

4.Both have huge wealth gaps. For example, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar are all super wealthy while Yemen and Iraq are very poor. Same way some Texas, some Texas cities are very wealthy (such as Denton and Plano) and some are very poor (such as El Paso and Hidalgo).

5. Both get lots of their money from oil.

6. Many wealthy Texas businessman do business in wealthy middle eastern countries due to oil and a growing economy and many middle easterners go to Texas (mostly Houston,Plano, Austin and Dallas)

So why so much hate towards each other?

Well we do say "Oh my God! This place is such a Texas!" sometimes when we want to express the lawlessness of a certain city or a neighborhood ;-)

But that probably is a reference to the old Texas seen in western movies and not the modern day Texas (even though it seems largely unchanged in terms of people's culture )

But it's good to know that we can find some common ground.

As a Texan, I am glad we can find some common ground as well ;-)

I don't know.

I do know that I couldn't stand to live in either place. I spent about a year in Texas and in the UAE. No thanks.

Have you ever been to Hidalgo ? It's a teeny tiny town just a stone cast from the International Bridge with 2 streets and like 50 houses, no wonder why it's poor, The only life Hidalgo has is because you have to cross it to reach McAllen's 10 th street.

As of the 2010 census, the population was 774,769, making it the eighth-most populous county in Texas. The county seat is Edinburg, while the largest city is McAllen

Ok, I should have said: have you ever been to the City of Hidalgo ? it has less than 15,000 inhabitants, I´ve been there hundreds of times, when I lived in McAllen I crossed it all the time.

Texas has Rick Perry, so that's a point in the Middle East's favor.

*Rolls Eyes*

That's like saying the middle-east has Ali Khamenei as the supreme leader of Iran.

Point in Texas's favor.
