I recently rewatched the first season of BTAS and I'm always amazed at how mature and serious the series was; at least the first season. Are there any other animated shows similar to BTAS which are sort of mature and serious in tone?

mature and serious? I'm born in '93 and I used to watch the series when it was new (like 95-01) I probably have 100 batman films on VHS.

I was comparing the show to today's animated shows. Most of today's western animated shows are really wacky and not as mature or sophisticated as Batman

Pretty much any DC animated series is at least good, most are great/amazing.

If you liked B:TAS, my top recomendations would go to Justace League(& Unlimited), Batman Beyond, and Young Justace.

Also look into the DC animated movies, several like Batman year one are jaw dropping amazing.

Like others have said, Superman: The animated Series and Batman Beyond. I was also a huge fan of the 90s Spiderman Animated Series, though it's not quite as dark and serious as Batman. Also, yeah, if you haven't seen the animated Batman movies, check them out. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero were both really good, and featured the same animation style, plus writers and voice actors from the Animated Series.

I heard mixed opinions on Young Justice, mainly due to the relationships of the characters? I don't know, maybe it's another show. :P

As everyone stated earlier, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, and X-Men are all good shows similar to Batman. I also hear that the Spectacular Spiderman tv show was pretty good too.

Yeah I've seen a bit of that. Okay overall if a bit over the top.
