Should it be a crime for someone to hide that they have an STD from the person they are sleeping with, and then give them that STD?

It's sort of like false advertising haha. JK. Seriously though, it's kind of scarey if some guy told me that he was totally clean, and gets himself tested. However, the next morning I wake up with a rash! Then, before he leaves he goes: "Thx for sekz! btw I was JK bout STD. kthx bai".

It's been a crime here in the UK ever since the case of R v Dica in 2004.

I can't wait 'til I no longer have to study law.

Not sure. I think I remember a prison term, I'm a little fuzzy on the details.

EDIT: I remember a news story where this woman intentionaly spread AIDs to several men because she happens to hate men in general. She was arrested and sent to prison, I think it counts as attempted murder.

How is it defined as a crime though? Is it if you "intentially" give someone an STD?

Your partner should not be lying to you about having STDs, so if they know they have an STD and lie to you, then you can sue them.

No it should be a crime. You can't say 'Oh well TS' because the person doesn't know that their partner has anything and it's not their fault.

You must reside in America. It's not a civil offence here in the UK; it's a criminal one which gets you sent to prsion for a long time.

It's a nerdy thing to do, especially in America. Not saying you are a nerd, but the act of doing it is generally thought of as nerdy, and hence avoided.

You can get STD's if you are married too.

And yes, it is a crime, and it should be. If you know you have an STD, and you start spreading it because you can't contain your lust and you don't tell your partners, something the **** is wrong with you and you should be put in jail.

Quite, but in recent cases, emphasis has been put on the recipient of such veneral disease to check that their partner is clean. Both owe the other a duty of care.

Problem is, not all diseases are passed through fluids. A condom doesn't protect you against warts, herpes or crabs.

I believe we're talking about lying about STDs. Like you ask and they say they don't have one even though they do. However I could be wrong, maybe it's just keeping it to yourself, in which case you'd be right. Can someone clarify?

I guess if a guy went to prison with AID's then he wouldn't have to worry in the shower...
