Well, it's not like you can cut off someone's living brain and study it while it's still firing. Gotta make some kind of substitute to study instead.

Thought it was a pretty cool incremental advancement myself.

Science can teach us a lot, but I think sometimes the ethical side of things does get fuzzy.

I remember a few years ago reading about how dogs have a latent gene, and the Chinese genetically engineered dogs to grow with that gene instead of the other one. What they created is these mutant "bear" dogs, really scary stuff. It makes you wonder why the gene was there, but also why it wasn't active.
