Who wins?

P.S. I've never seen any of them.

SpongeBob. The fans killed it for me with Rick and Morty.

I only recently watched Rick and Morty about three months ago. I watched all four seasons and there were times it was really hilarious but when they started making sex episode after sex episode it started getting really boring. Tons of potential so I'm hoping they move on from just sex with different things episodes... but whatever.

I haven't watched SpongeBob in over a decade.

@SOedipus: I kinda see what you mean; some fans are just the absolute worst. However, if you're judging by strictly the shows themselves and not taking fandom into consideration, then it's Rick and Morty, hands down. SpongeBob has seen a steep dive in quality over the years, ran for too long and with the passing of original creator Stephen Hillenberg a few years back, I don't think there's a chance things will improve.

Spongebob just because there's way more to watch and all pretty enjoyable. I still like R&M a lot and from the sound of it, I'm glad I haven't had any encounter with the fanbase.

Aren't they fairly different cartoons? I don't even know you can compare them on a fairly relative plane.

@DEVILinIRON: I have no idea, I don't even know how to find the fanbase. The types of forums and wikis for that aren't even on my radar.

The most outside of the show thing I did is I used to listen to Grandma's Virginity podcast which has some of the people involved in the show, it's funny, but I didn't ever see their forums or anything either.

All I know is people talk badly about the fanbase, so I'm happy to continue being oblivious to all that.

One seems more like an adult cartoon the other more family friendly/geared for kids, it is hard to compare then although I do like both shows.

Same. The amount of hype for Rick and Morty was way overblown.
