I give him 8/10.

My guess is that OT will not rate him very high...but that is just a guessrawsavonAt the very least you have to admit Narnia was awesome.
I liked his books when I read them, but that was years ago. Not sure what I'd think if I read them now. But I have fond memories of them.
The Screwtape Letters is one of the few books I've read multple times. I can't really give a precise rating since I've only read a couple of his books, but I loved all that I've read.
10/10, one of my favorite authors of all time. More people need to read his till We Have Faces, srsly.KH-mixerX
Have you read Mere Christianity? I've been told that it is brilliant.
Yes, and it's pretty good; a little overrated, but it's not intended to be some scholarly presentation of the religion.
The only book I've read from him was Out of the Silent Planet, which I found quite enjoyable.TheokhothYou never read the sequels? :o Perelandra's the best of the three. Yay for Nudity! I still have trouble grasping the idea of waves moving through land.

Well I read it for Existential Literature my senior year of high school. And then college started. And then I started reading A Song of Ice and Fire. Never got around to it.

The land is not rooted in anything; it's like watching a pile of moss on water.
I'm a big C.S. Lewis fan. I won't put him among the all time great writers, but he does have a diverse and high quality body of work. How many authors can write both top tier theology and fantasy?
One of his books has an Iron Maiden song named after it, so obviously he's the best author ever.
Theokhoth, you stay away from this post with your Brave New World hating:x
Apparently not, according to the poll.9/10 for Narnia and his Christian writings. Bad place to make a thread about him.
Apparently not, according to the poll. Well, that's surprising. Probably because few people have actually read his work on here.9/10 for Narnia and his Christian writings. Bad place to make a thread about him.

Soon there'll be a RED album named after one of his books, so I don't need to raeg about how Brave New World sucks major swamp ass. :DOne of his books has an Iron Maiden song named after it, so obviously he's the best author ever.

Amazing children's literature - the Narnia books were awesome.
Although his views on Christianity were fairly conservative, I still like "Mere Christianity" and "Screwtape Letters" and he gets props for his openness to the idea of people of other faiths still being able to attain salvation.
EDIT: As for an actual score... I feel unworthy judging him but he's got to be either a 9 or a 10. If dislike his worldview you might rate him lower; but when you consider his influence on modern Christian thought and, again, the largely successful Narnia series I think you have to admit that he's at least an 8.
