He was okay. I give him 6/10 for having some neat stuff, even if it is My First Lord of the Rings.

I liked his books when I read them, but that was years ago. Not sure what I'd think if I read them now. But I have fond memories of them.

I'm afraid the only works of his I've read are "The Chronicles of Narnia," which was when I was in third grade. I have been wanting to read "The Screwtape Letters" for some time, though.

I separate his works into fiction and theology. For the fiction I'm going to have to say 8/10. It's very engaging well written stuff (try the cosmic trilogy). As for his theological works.. well frankly they are nothing short of outstanding. 10/10. Mere Christianity has influenced me more than any book (aside from the Bible) I've ever read. Surprised by Joy, Weight of Glory, and The Problem of Pain are also excellent.

Besides... we both know that Tolkien was better. 8)

:P

I am actually curious to read some of C. S. Lewis's work just because they were friends.

The Screwtape Letters is one of the few books I've read multple times. I can't really give a precise rating since I've only read a couple of his books, but I loved all that I've read.

I haven't read much of his stuff, aside from a few Narnia books. But I do own Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters. I'll read them eventually...

6/10 not a big fan. I always felt Narnia had to many religious overtones for my taste but maybe I was just looking into it the wrong way. Was always told Aslan represented Christ

Yes, and it's pretty good; a little overrated, but it's not intended to be some scholarly presentation of the religion.

Well I read it for Existential Literature my senior year of high school. And then college started. And then I started reading A Song of Ice and Fire. Never got around to it.

The land is not rooted in anything; it's like watching a pile of moss on water.

I'm a big C.S. Lewis fan. I won't put him among the all time great writers, but he does have a diverse and high quality body of work. How many authors can write both top tier theology and fantasy?

Both stylistically and logically he is brilliant. Many may think of him as just an author of books like those from the Narnia series, but I love him for his books like Mere Christianity. "We are told that Christ was killed for us, that His death has washed out our sins, and that by dying He has disabled death itself. That is the formula. That is Christianity. That is what has to be believed." - C. S. Lewis from Mere Christianity.

Amazing children's literature - the Narnia books were awesome.

Although his views on Christianity were fairly conservative, I still like "Mere Christianity" and "Screwtape Letters" and he gets props for his openness to the idea of people of other faiths still being able to attain salvation.

EDIT: As for an actual score... I feel unworthy judging him but he's got to be either a 9 or a 10. If dislike his worldview you might rate him lower; but when you consider his influence on modern Christian thought and, again, the largely successful Narnia series I think you have to admit that he's at least an 8.
