A lot of people started to use it to make sure they don't lose them in shopping malls etc. To prevent kidnapping, but I am sure a lot of parents use them because they hate their kids.

Don't do that to kids. It will make them mental. And it is not really funny at all.

second this. Would rather carry my kid than put him in a makeshift leesh. Of course, I can't blame busy parents that has little time to take care of their children -_-

Whatever happened to a proper parent who knew how to raise their kids with manners so they dont have to degrade them like that? Seriously I got smacked on the bottom once and I've manage to fly straight since (at least around family).

Ive seen that before too. I thought it was pretty ridiculous if you have to keep your kid on a leash. What would happen if they weren't on one? They'd run away? I'd understand a dog just up and leaving...but a child.

It's all part of the equal rights for animals movement. My 70 year old neighbour actually has a seatbelt for his dog.

She might have just got confused. They both bite and poop a lot.

Could easily get abducted. You only have to turn your back on a child for a second these days and it will go missing.

When I was little my mum used to put me on reighs. Only because its easier to control a child as saves you bending down all the time to hand their hand. It also gives the child more freedom to move around.

Those have been around since I was a child, nothing new. Theyre quite handy, like if your child runs into oncoming traffic you can easily jerk them backwards. Great invention.

Not only that, but it's great to keep him safe in areas with a lot of people where kidnappings are not uncommon (airports and such).

meh.. when the kid is 14 months old and walking all over the place and doesn't really understand verbal communication or a smack on the bottom yet it can be effective.

I used to have one of those on when I was a kid. It didn't go all the way round me, just on my wrist. But its a useful way of making sure your child doesn't run off.

That's because you have to carry any pets with you when walking through shopping centres......except if it's a really big dog of course......that would be somewhat.........awkward :P

Maybe it's there to let kids walk/run around without straying too far from mom. I don't see anything wrong with it.

I really don't see a problem with it, except it LOOKS really lame. I mean, better than having your kid run into the middle of the street and get run over...

My mother used to dress me a my 2 brother in the same bright colored striped shirts if we went somewhere. This would be in the 1980's. I don't how I'd feel if I was on a leash. When I was old enough to realize I was leashed like a dog, I'd be quite mad at my mother!

no..they are not looking..that's the problem..they let the kid wander around teathered to them instead of taking the time to treat them like a person...I have two sons...I hold their hand..walk with them..watch them ...talk with them..interact with them.........every parent I've ever seen with these damn things are too distracted talking with who they are with....or watching an event..to even notice their kid.....

Different from my experience. Around airports and other extremely busy areas with a lot of strangers it's not too much to use one of these "leashes" just for safety. Of course you should still give them proper attention, I never put that on the line. But having them "hard-wired" to you gives you a guarantee that just holding hands does not.

Screw leashes, babies should be gagged in public.
