I posted this song to support an argument I was making in another thread, but I thought about how powerful I think it is and got the inspiration for this thread.

It's called "No Good Deed":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4I8pneJkxBY

Live version:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcM97JKo6ws&feature=related

I just love the raw desperation in the lyrics and the way the vocal melodies and the gallopping arrangment really embody the desperation. Also, the song is just so shadowy and witchy. I love it. Furthermore, the way she screams "Fiyero!" really just drives the desperation of the whole thing home.

What are some songs that you think are especially powerful?

You dont need words to understand what a true artist telling you. Nujabes's music as a whole is very powerful.

About any song from the album would do, but this is pretty powerful in itself.

two songs come to mind

"I Want to Hold Your Hand" by T.V. Caprio

- was literally holding back tears and sniffing a little when it was done, just extremely well sung and shot. very touching. Still have my heart strings pulled. and i'm not lesbian or gay just straight but still could sympathize very strongly with it.

"Karma Slave" by Splashdown

- draws on some of my religious philosophy, even though i'm not Hindu. Still very good one i think. "Anyone who claims that they know the answer, is coming back again"

"M4 Part II" by Faunts

- Still strikes a chord with me, I know the first time i heard it was at the credits of Mass Effect, but the tone and lyrics still strikes a chord deep with me. topic of love and struggle.

"Try" by Nelly Furtado

- Another one that gets to me, and a personal all time favorite one. again topic of love.

"Sky Giant" by Natacha Atlas & Transglobal Underground

The TU is probably one of my all time favorite artists who happened to be well.... unknown. Check the description for lyrics - it's sung in Arabic but the lyrics are provided for in English.

Musical power: Iced Earth- Dracula

Makes sense since It's Power Metal. The breath behind those vocals. Far out...

Lyrical power: Porcupine Tree- A Smart Kid

There is no song on the planet that compares lyrically.

Favorite lines:

I like the other version, I want more hoes...lol. :) Drank so many bottles of wine to that. :) A powerful song for me would have to be Ghost Love Score by Nightwish for me. That song really gets to me. :) Haha.

well then it's not truly rebellious music. Not denying that music exists that tries to appeal to that in teenagers to make money, but generalizing all music that has rebellious aspects is made by millionaires is plain dumb.

Blast from the past.

I was gonna post just this to lure people into clicking it because I know Scoprions isnt everyone's cup of tea but I am a good person.

Its "In Trance" by Scorpions, the live version from Tokyo Tapes.
