LOL. Hendrix practically wrote the book on electric guitar techniques and Van Halen's music pretty much sucks in my opinion. I'm not going to say that makes Eddie a poor guitarist, but still, there is no contest.
Jimi's guitar playing is much more tasteful than Eddie's, and whether or not he can play faster, that still makes him the greater innovator in my books.

By that logic, Fred Durst is a better guitarist than Jimi Hendrix. At the moment, he is. In a solo contest at this time, Hendrix would lose, unless Durst's is so bad that it's better to not play.

Hendrix. While Eddie seems more technically sound and can play really fast I don't see him being a very good improvisational. Hendrix can make an electric guitar sound like no other. Make a sudden bad chord turn into something really good.
