How ticked off is everyone at the people, who were chosen to carry the Olympic torch across britain, that have decided to sell their relay torches on eBay. I think its a bit of kick to the face to those who weren't selected. I understand that some of them are putting it to a good cause but surely they should've waited untill the games were over at least.

What's wrong with selling them? Most of the people who were selected had to buy the torches themselves; they weren't given the torches for free. If they can turn their purchase into a tidy profit, why not?

Its just the principle behind them selling the torches before they've even run with them. If they waited to sell them i doubt anyone would've heared about it.

I have no issue with them wanting to sell them. I wouldn't sell mine but I don't have one... :P

Why shouldn't they sell them? It's a unique and special set of torches sure, but it's their property; let them do with it as they please.

There was a woman on BBC news the other day who had a final bid of £153,000 ($240,000~) or something ridiculous for hers. Presumably it's a joke bid, but most will fetch a few thousand at least.

Had to be a joke. They typically only sell for like $3-5K.

Design committees.

As for TC's question. The olympic torch runners have to by the torch for £200 IIRC if they want to keep it. If they want to sell it it's their choice. ersonally if I got the chance to run with the olympic torch I'd keep it, but to some people the money is more valuable.

Did not know that. In that case, I don't see a problem with it.

Are you saying they will be worse than the Bubba Olympics in Atlanta in 1996?
