Launch seems premature. Too many functions are missing or non working. The forums are mainly where I go and it's difficult to see who is posting what with the generic avatars and shortened user names. The board selection is more limited.
Old by far at this stage.....and I doubt that will change with the smaller sig anyway.
HI LJ! HOW ARE YOU????
They really need to fix the avatars soon. I know a lot of bugs are expected when doing something like this, but they should have had that down.

True. That shouldn't even be a bug TBH...
New site is absolute garbage. Looks awful, loads much slower. Also why the fvck doesn't GS let us give .5 increments to games anymore?
I really like it. It's much more modern looking. Of course it's just been launched so it's running slow right now.
People will always hate any change. If you don't like it, leave. It will clean the site up.

Glad to see you haven't left.. yet. We go back for some time.

It's just incredibly frustrating. It's like we're talking to bots or something. At least they could have chosen a better default avatar than this.
Bleh.

Most people don't like the fact that it's a more cluttered and confusing layout. Maybe you should realize not everyone has to think as you do.

If the site doesn't improve I might. :(

That one hurts, Chess.
Old site, for sure. I miss the unions, UCB's, username color, # of topics/posts per page, old friend list system, etc.
Old site by far. I don't know what they thought they'd improve but for example ''The Stacks'' suck because it takes so much time to get through one person's owned games now, the games won't even show any information about them, just the names! That's just a waste of time.
And the games are messed up, I didn't wish for any AC: Brotherhood PS3 Slim Bundle when I put it on my wishlist, I already have a PS3 for crying out loud!

LOL. Yeah I don't like the way the games lists are now and why is it called a stack?
The redesign sucks ass bro, I'm seriously considering Immigrating to IGN now.
Me too, IGN now souds attempting. Gamespot should had talked with the community before change everything.
This is how I feel kinda right now. There's stuff that I immediately question like I used to have a firefox bookmark to led to my forum posts. There I could easily see which topics I've posted in have new posts. However if I visit the same forum profile site now, There's big blocks of my own text (YEAH THX FO SHOWING WHAT I WROTE THX GAMESPOT) and I can't see any "1 new posts" message either.
This is typical bullcrap made by big websites like Youtube and Facebook and stuff like that. They just make everything worse.
In the end, I hung around because I was satisfied with Gamespot, had I not been satisfied, I would've gone to some other site because god know Gamespot is rather mediocre. Off topic is a major bore "Derp what is your favorite ice cream zzZzz snore question" and System Wars is filled with ignorance and hateful one liners a la Kindergarten (my dad > your dad). With this lacking interface, there is not much keeping me around... Also what, did they remove levels? Srsly brah
Ok first negative thing I've noticed.... there's no indication about which threads we've visited and/or posted in, right?
Or am I missing something?
There isn't. Which is kind of annoying because it makes it harder to follow discussions.

Yeah, and it is also true that it loads kinda slower.
Next thing you know we'll have the same glitches as before!
"Well its more web 2.0 now, you guys!!!"
The website has never been better. The profiles look better at first, but functionally it's silly that they are split up into so many different pages and that blogs, trophies, and levels are in separate pages. Also, we read left to right, so why is user data on the right? The forums are unimaginative carbon-copies of giantbomb. Haven't liked what they've been doing with the forums for about a decade.
Problem is all we did was loose features.
The new site is functionally inferior and l don't know how that can eve be debated. We can't even do 1/3 of the things on here that we used to. Not to mention that its been stripped of its personality. What was the point of this?,. So bad.

Looks like unread discussions or new posts are supposed to be white while read discussions (no new messages) are faded text - as far as the topic titles on the board goes. But this function doesn't seem to be very accurate...
gahh, this new layout hurts my brain, the old one flowed, looked clean, easy to use...idk, maybe this one'll grow on me, but initial impression--it blows
if there's a ot exodus, i'm down
It only hit me now this whole time that I've accidentally logged in to an old perma-banned account I had a few million years ago, even posted a reply here with it and all.
Did...did I just find some sort of loophole where all previously banned accounts are unbanned?
I don't *hate* the look of the new site, but certain things need to be fixed and quickly. Everything on this site is way slower than it used to be (although that could possibly be chalked up to higher traffic due to the redesign), I absolutely hate that I have to disable my AdBlock every time I want to watch a video (which I didn't have to do up until a day ago), I'd like to be able to change my avatar without having to employ some weird work-around technique which I refuse to do, and just little things that need neatening up. Stuff like our post counts appearing twice in each post (should just be under our username where the avatar is) and peoples' usernames being chopped off if it contains more than a certain number of characters.
i used to browse old gamespot website flawlessly but this new one is talking ages to open everything ...???
P.S.- i live in INDIA...
It's fresh off launch. The servers are overtaxed and they are still trying to adjust things so they work properly. Give them a couple days to iron out the kinks and get the site working like it should. I can already tell that it's faster. A little slow still but it's getting better.

How are the servers over taxed? I mere update isn't going to suddenly increase traffic.

Not more traffic but there is considerable more data to load in this new site then the old one. Larger textures, pictures, etc. The servers have to send out a lot more information then the old site, which used quite low res outdated photos and textures. Once the fix the infrastructure and streamline everything it'll perform much better.

Wouldn't they already have accounted for that?
It is inexcusable that they cut off user names though.
I love the new site and the new profile options! It makes integrating my YouTube channel to my Gamespot account!

We are talking about Gamespot here. I would imagine they just transferred the site over the current infrastructure, which has obviously proved to be a little problematic. I'm sure they'll figure it out eventually.
This is friggen horrible!! I can't even watch GS videos anymore. I may need to find a new forum.., quite a shame. I really liked coming here :(
At the moment, the old site by a mile.
But it's too early to know for sure. Hopefully they get this new one running better.

Give it time dude. They transferred this new site just yesterday. It's gonna take some time for them to iron out all of the kinks in the system and optimize everything to work correctly.
I was the leader of a union board here at GS before they trashed it all. Well, I created a new one. If you like shooters and are a warrior (all platforms and shooter gamers welcome), come to the new Warrior Clan board at http://warriorclan.shivtr.com We have game forums, an event calendar, videos, picture galleries, free game links (for Xbox live members) and game news. Come by and join in on the fun. I'd love to see you there.
