Why does the majority of people say "obviously" constantly after saying something? If its obvious...then why do you have to point it out?

Because they don't have the sense to realize something is obvious even if they stated that it is.

It's often used as an insult. As in, "yes, you're obviously supposed to do that. You should be ashamed about even having to ask."

Ive never met anyone that said that unless they were trying to be intentionally insulting or a smartass.

I use it whenever I'm pointing out something really hard to notice.

If it has to be pointed out, it's not obvious to the nub who they had to point it out to. Obviously. [spoiler] :P [/spoiler]

I think its just one of the many overused words that are said in our current generation. Kind of like "ridiculous", as in "that concert was ridiculous".
