When I was a kid I really enjoyed reading comic books like the Punisher, Batman and Spawn.

Recently at adult age I started to read the Walking Dead Comics and now would like to have some advice on any good mature comics to read.

I know that the recent tell tale games's new game The Wolf Among Us is based on the Fables comic books. Is it any good? Anyone here have read it?

Any other recommendations?

Oh yeah and Sandman. I've only ever flipped through them at the book store, but they're really cool

Invincible. It is also written by Robert Kirkman who writes the walking dead. Don't be fooled by the colorful characters though, this book can be one of the bloodiest superhero comics out there when it needs to be.

Since you like "Spawn" I can highly recommend anything from Top Cow and Image, both great publishers.

Fables
The Sandman
X-Men (if you don't want to start from the beginning, I recommend starting from Grant Morrison's New X-Men)

I really got into The Wolf Among Us, so I was wondering about the Fables comics myself. Glad to see they're worth looking in to. Thanks!

Watchmen is great. I was very disappointed by Batman Hush and new 52 Wonder Woman vol 1 however. I don't get why people spend so much money on comics like that honestly. I'm gonna stick with cartoons and movies for standard superheroes.

These are my 2 favorite comics.

The Maxx

The series follows the adventures of the titular hero in the real world and in an alternate reality, referred to as The Outback. In the real world the Maxx is a vagrant, a "homeless man living in a box", while in the Outback he is the powerful protector of the Jungle Queen. The Jungle Queen exists in the real world as Julie Winters, a freelance social worker who often bails the Maxx out of jail. While the Maxx is aware of the Outback, Julie is not, though it is integral to both of their stories.

This is a brilliant story about how the real world and the personal world in your head get intertwined.

Akira

The story takes place after world war III in Neo-Tokyo where a group of scientists use children with psychic powers to create a weapon of mass destruction. Meanwhile a resistance organisation is trying to stop them. When it's discovered that a kid from a biker gang also possesses the psychic gift, all hell breaks loose when he goes on a rampage and the survival of Neo-Tokyo and the world is at stake.

Transmetropolitan is definitely worth reading. And if you liked the Punisher, Garth Ennis' entire run of the title is worth it as well, particularly Punisher: Born and the MAX series.

I can easily recommend Batman: Hush, Batman: The Long Halloween and Watchmen. The second and third of which are absolutely outstanding.

Why do you like Batman Hush? It was so predictable - I was like 80% sure who Hush was like right after they introduced his alter ego. I was very disappointed reading it after Watchmen.

Since you like superheroes look for mature comics in that theme like Watchmen. That's an awesome comic.

I read it after playing Arkham City. I knew who Hush was before going in. I enjoyed the art (especially Catwoman) and it had a solid narrative arch. If you noticed, I didn't call it outstanding.

Yeah it wasn't bad but it was definitely not deserving of all the praise I read on amazon. The art looked great yeah but honestly I found it kind of annoying how most of the women were in provocative poses most of the time.
