Hey. I'm looking for anime shows that are dark, gory and preferably tragic as well. I'm not a big fan of anime nudity, but I suppose I can tolerate it if the series is really good. And gory.
Thanks in advance!

i see, im reading Uzumaki or Spiral, thought about reccomending that before knowing TC's preference,
Although I think your definition of "mature" is a bit juvenile, here's some excellent anime that fit your criteria:
Elfen Lied is exactly what you want (save for the nudity bit).
Akira is also what you'd like and a must watch for anyone who wants to call themselves an anime fan.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is another good, mature anime. It starts off as a typical shonen mech show, but turns into something very, very different later in the series.
Puella Magi Madoka Magicka is, despite first appearances, also up your alley. Give it until the end of episode 3 before making any judgements.
Higurashi no naku koro ni (and its second season, kai) is pretty gruesome throughout much of it. It's well regarded by most fans, although I personally didn't like it as much.
And although there's no gore (save for maybe one scene), Grave of the Fireflies is both dark and tragic, as well as probably being the most artsy film on this list.
With the exception of Higuarshi and Elfen Lied, I would consider everything on that list to be mature (my definition of "mature" being a show that has a plot that takes itself seriously and doesn't resort to edginess for the sake of edginess).
Hmm so you want dark, tragic, with some potential gore filtered into there huh? Well let's see what I can get for you.
Some one mentioned earlier but Higurashi no naku koro ni would definitely be a good one (also known as When They Cry).
Someone earlier also mentioned Berserk (which is also one of my favorite animes).
Also got to go with Elfen Lied.
Hmm, to appease your gore factor, maybe some Hellsing or Blood the Last Vampire perhaps?
While I'm not necessarily the biggest fan, there is Gantz if you want to take a gander.
Kakurenbo Hide and Seek is darker in the theme, not necessarily gore.
And for some mindless gore, could go for some Highschool of the Dead action.
How could I forget a classic like Ninja Scroll (go for the movie).
There is also Vampire Hunter D (and the movie Bloodlust) for some darker theme action. Hmm, to fill your tragic side, perhaps some Texhnolyze would be good.
I'm watching No.6 this seasons. I would recommend Usagi Drop but I stopped reading the manga long ago. If you're into manga then I highly recmmend reading Vagabond.
Why did you automatically assume we'd recommend hentai?
Okay, well going by what you're saying you want, you should definitely watch Neon Genesis Evangelion. It'll be right up your alley. Also the Kara no Kyoukai movies. You might like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Shigofumi, and Black Lagoon as well.
samurai 7
visions of escaflowne has dudes getting stabbed or dismembered every 2nd episode normally by comically large weapons. take that how you wish.
witch hunter robin is pretty good recommends
the karas series is pretty high on the recommends lsit what with the main character dying horribly more times than id like to admit :P
finally this is going to sound a bit off the beaten path but full metal alchemist has some pretty grizzly bits if i say so myself.. in fact its even got folks gettin eaten :P

Id recommend:
Clannad (especially after story)
Black Lagoon
Claymore
The ghost in the shell series

(Maybe) Guyver (the old OVAs are the better ones who)
Shiki
