just noticing the trend in music toward figure heads, people who have no real musical talent other than looking sexy

so are there any real musician out there making a name?

Lots of guitar players i metal bands. Buckethead, the guitar player for Between The Buried and Me, Mikael Ackerfeldt (might be older, but he's still in a modern band), and a lot more. Just look at the metal scene if you want instrumental talent.
