Well, only in three towns. Anyway, KFC is testing a donut chicken sandwich. Yes, you heard right. A crispy chicken patty served between two donuts. Honestly, I hope it does well because I want them to go national with it, so I can try it.

What do you think of this new crazy chicken concoction?

They tried this in Canada with burgers one season at the CNE. The cronut burger I believe it was called. It resulted in getting about 35 people sick.

Was the beef tainted or something? I can't imagine a burger/donut combination getting anyone sick unless one of the ingredients were off.

I'm not much of a Donuts guy, but that looks tasty to try. Too bad none of KFC in my area aren't offering it just yet to the public though, I would've try it myself. I do hope to see other places like Dunkin Donuts & Krispy Kreme get on this as well.

Doesn't seem bad at all. I have heard of a Donut burger.

@JustPlainLucas: Naw, it was improper refrigeration of the maple bacon sauce they used. Sorry if my comment implied it was the combination of the two. Just an anecdote your post reminded me about.

Kinda lazy, if you ask me. A piece of breaded chicken between 2 donuts... it's like they don't give a crap anymore.

LOL they really weren't trying at all. After reading your post, I can easily do this myself and see how it really taste.

Exactly. If you're going to make a sandwich that's gonna make your customers fat bastards, do SOMETHING that's gonna stand out. Anyone can take a chicken and slap it between two donuts, but what about covering the chicken in DONUT GLAZE? To top it off, serving it in a unique fancy pastry? That's gonna be something that'll stand out, and it'll appeal to those who are hungry and blazed out of their skulls.

KFC, cut me my check! Make it to the order of "Cash", thank you very much.

Hey man, you know, they do chicken and waffles and that shit is delicious, chicken and donuts ain't a big stretch, right?

Kind of think they're missing a good opportunity here; they could use a waffled panini press and making a donut-waffle chicken sandwich.

Definitely lazy, but now that I think about it, I can't see it working with much else. I mean, do you really want cheese or lettuce or tomato with donuts? Bacon might work... Anyway, I'm more interested in seeing what their donuts taste like.

@JustPlainLucas: I'm guessing it's probably gonna be some cheap no-name brand glazed donuts. If you're expecting Krispy Kreme--which is trash, btw--I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Krispy Kreme myself. I only really enjoy them with they're absolutely fresh.

The flavor profiles blend well together and it is a fairly simple concept which is what seems to do well at fast food joints. Looks what happens when certain chains go the overly "fancy" and complex route.
