I pretty much agree with Pirates of the Caribbean and The Dark Knight. They're not bad films, but the way people go crazy over them is quite annoying. I also agree with Transformers... But that one just sucks. I don't see why people are so excited over the new one coming out...

I would also like to add I Am Legend to the list.

Why is every successful venture deemed overrated by those who don't like it? And why are hate threads so popular? Some questions will never be answered.

  • Titanic
  • Pan's Labyrinth
  • Forrest Gump
  • Pulp Fiction
  • Unforgiven
  • The Nightmare on Elm Street

These are the ones that come to mind. I know there are a lot more, but I'm just drawing a blank.

Pirates of the Carribean and Blade Runner. The Dark Knight isn't overrated. You may not like because you were bombarded with the hype but it will be a film that lives on for decades as one of the best comic book films and even one of the best films overall.

I agree about Pirates of the Carribean, and to that list I'll add 300 and Sin City.

I actually like the Dark Knight, though, so there I disagree.

What, that movie was dumb, poor kids fell for it though. And now it has broadways, sequels, and a bunch of toys. Definitley on the most overrated movie list.

300 was definitely a Hot Topic when it came out. That was two years ago, and it seemed everywhere you looked, it was 'Sparta' in your face.

I liked it too, but it wasnt the best movie ever like people claimed, and would've been better if Bale hadnt overdone the Batman voice. Best Batman movie? Yes. Best movie ever? No.

Well, yeah, because everyone thought it was hilarious/badass, not because most people thought it was a good movie. It's the same with other bad movies (e.g. Snakes on a Plane).

I LOVE movies, but granted, I don't like every last film I see. But as for this thread... I don't think it's about listing bad films, but just ones you feel are a bit overrated, or got more attention than they really needed.

I'm talking about the make up/costume design he uses. I remember watching the trailer for Hellboy 2 thinking, "These designs look like they came from Pan's Labyrinth".

I respect your opinion and all, but I just want to say I'm the complete opposite towards Pixar.
They make some of my favorite animated films ever... Infact, there has not been one single Pixar film that I did not love. To me they are the best animation company of our time. Most other companies who try to be good at computer animation just fall flat on their faces in the end, and the embarrassing mark Pixar leaves on them just makes them look mediocre at best.

Lol, I don't know where you could have heard that The Thin Red Line was amazing or anything. I think the hype was behind Malick, but as a war film even I can't put forward too much praise. I guess the story itself works on some psychological level, but unfortunately, that just means it didn't translate into a good film. 7/10 for me, I think.

Saving Private Ryan I find slightly overrated. I'll definitely choose it over the crap today, but after reading Band of Brothers, SPR kind of seemed like a comic book version of WW2. Apart from the Omaha opening, which I'll give Spielberg for one of the best sequences... ever... the 2 hours in between was too drawn out and the first time watching (yes, I have watched it many, many times) I couldn't really care about the characters. While the ending sequence was great popcorn action, the only thing separating it and Rambo 4's ending battle was the amounts of gore. Stuff was just blowing up, Reiben's running around without a helmet and 20 lb BAR, firing from the hip and taking down a bunch of Germans... But still, a pretty good film. Just, Band of Brothers still beats it on all fronts.

I agree with the Dark Knight. Definitely above the average action flick today, but when it came to style, TDK didn't feel very Batman-y to me. Begins was dark and very atmospheric, while TDK felt like the Halo 2 to Combat Evolved... yeah, I went there. Begins just left a larger impact on me when I saw it.

I say taxi driver and Robert De Niro in general. Taxi driver was slow, boring and half pointless. Yes we get it, he is very lonely andis disgusted with the city.He feels guilty not helping the little hoe and tries to get her out of that environment. Robert De Niro played a stiff, awkward creep. Is that so hard?

  • "Schindler's List"...I actually like this film a lot, but it's the most overrated of Spielberg's flicks...both "Jaws" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" are miles better.
  • "Forrest Gump"...a movie that most people seemingly will not let you dislike.
  • "Crash"...how such a god awful film won Best Picture is beyond me.
  • "The Dark Knight"...another film I actually like, but its strongest supporters are almost unbearable for me to be around as a movie lover.

Just a few.

I think you should watch it again, you obviously didn't understand the film.

Seriously, give it another chance. I agree it's slow pacedbut that's not always a bad thing.
