Poll Marvel or DC? (32 votes)

Marvel 63%
DC 38%

So, I recently purchased all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and I hope to watch them leading up to Christmas. But it got me thinking, what do you prefer...

Marvel or DC?

I grew up watching a lot of Batman and Spider-Man. But, as a kid...I’d know more of Marvel. From DC, I’d only be able to mention Batman as a lot of the other DC superheroes were unknown to me.

So, my choice is Marvel even though I’d pick Batman over anything. Lol

Definitely Marvel for me. Spider-Man is my all time favourite superhero and comic universe. Also love the X-Men. I do like some of the Batman and Superman stuff.

I like both. Keep in mind I never read comics as a kid, only know it from movies, animated series, and whatever I look up on various wikis.

Marvel is more "Rawr, we are badasses!" and cool.

DC is charming, more stereotypical (in a good way) hero stuff. I like the animation and show series (Flash is honestly amazing, while the other series have their own merits but are not flawless), not so much the newer movies.

The only superhero universe that I've ever liked is Batman... so I guess DC.

I was always more of a Marvel person, but I wish I had gotten into some of the Vertigo stuff when I was younger. I hear a lot of that stuff was really good.

Marvel, easily.

Spider-Man and Hulk are my favourite superheroes of all time. Marvel also has a lot more interesting superheroes, e.g. Black Panther, Captain America, Iron-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, etc.

In comparison, all that DC has is Superman and Batman. The rest of the DC superheroes don't hold a candle compared to Marvel. Also, the "dark and edgy" aesthetic that DC goes for is kind of annoying.

DC

I grew up on watching Batman. Also, during the time I was growing up X-Men was a pretty popular movie franchise. So, I know a lot of X-Men. I didn't knew it was a part of Marvel. It's kind of insane.

Some of the Marvel hero's I didn't even knew until the Marvel movies came out like guardians of the galaxy.

The DC Universe has a lot of lore, but most of it is focused on Batman and Superman. Whereas the Marvel Universe has its lore more evenly spread out between different superheroes.

I'm a Marvel fanboy but I do like DC as well.

Marvel-Live action movies & DC-Animations are awesome. But Marvel all the way for me.

Edit: I'm actually excited for Aquaman movie this December.

I'm getting the blu-Ray soon. I realllllly looooove Mask of the Phantasm, it was and still is the best Batman animated movie I watch with my Dad in the early 90's and what I like about that movie is, it was the first time I ever seen Bruce Wayne happy when he was about to get marry, he was gonna give up being Batman and everything in that movie is just well made.

Marvel is awesome, fantastic characters and heroes but they simply have nothing on this.

Too bad the DCEU movies didnt do as well. Batman remains my favourite "super"hero however.

A lot of Marvel movies are just overrated and are just not as good as what people claim them to be but compared to DC right now, I have to go with Marvel.

DC movies are just plain downright horrible and definitely needs a reboot.

It's interesting how most DC fans can only name a single DC superhero they really like (Batman)... which says a lot about just how limited DC is compared to Marvel.

Yet despite DC focusing so heavily on Batman (and Superman), the most popular superhero of all is a Marvel superhero (Spider-Man).

Comics- I have always been a Marvel guy since the early 80's. It hurts to say it, but DC is putting out way better comics than Marvel these days.

Movies - Marvel no contest.

Aniamtion -DC no contest.

TV series - Marvel Netflix shows are better than all DC CW shows. Haven't seen Cloak and Dagger, Runaways or Black Lightning yet so I can't comment there.

Action figures - Both are putting out quality right now. Toss up.

@heathen75: While I'm also more into Marvel, I agree that Marvel comics and cartoons have been declining lately. With Marvel raking in so much from movies, it seems like they just can't be arsed to make good comics or cartoons anymore. Whereas with DC, their movies aren't doing so well, so they've been putting more effort into the comics and cartoons lately.

It could also be because the American comic industry is declining, so Marvel just doesn't care about it anymore. Even the huge success of the MCU hasn't helped the US comic industry. The decline could be partly due to the rise of manga (the manga distributor Viz Media is now the largest comic publisher in the US), and partly due to Marvel just not caring about comics anymore (leaving it to DC to keep the US comic industry afloat).

Prior to the new movie series none of those other characters were mainstream popular. Also most of Marvel's characters were rip offs of DC.

Spider-Man, X-Men and Hulk were hugely popular long before the movies. Back in the '80s and '90s, Marvel comics & cartoons were dominating DC comics & cartoons. It's only after Marvel made the transition to movies in the 2000s that their comics & cartoons started declining, almost as if Marvel started abandoning comics & cartoons after they caught the bigger fish (the movie industry).

Spider-Man yes. As I said mainstream. The others were popular with comic book fans. There's a difference.

Superfriends was on in the early 80's. After that, nobody heard from them till the 2000's when the Justice League cartoon came out. In the 90's there was only Batman and Superman on TV. Marvel Has had a consistent TV presence since the the early 80's all the way till now. We've had Spider-Woman, Spider-Man, Spider-Man and his amazing friends, Incredible Hulk, X-men, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, 90's Spider-Man, 90's Hulk, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man Unlimited, Avengers: United they Stand, X-men evolution, Spider-Man MTV, Fantastic Four MTV, Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine and the Xmen and Iron Man Armored adventures. That is stopping 10 years ago.

MCU even though I hate majority of it but at least it's come up with a few fun ones.

DC movies are just terrible terrible terrible and they have to reboot the whole thing and fire everyone. Get the Nolan guy and that Mexican guy who directer Harry Puta 3. In fact they should hire any director for as long as they don't have even one movie that has a rating of 80% on rotten tomatoes. It's a pity too because based on heroes, I prefer DC.

In terms of the movies? Or comics in general? Regarding movies, it's a no contest. Marvel has been much better. The current DC movie universe is utter garbage. But in terms of comics, it's a draw in my book. I like certain books from each of the two.
