One of the most loathed non-violent offenders finally committed the crime of fraud, and was arrested.

Shkreli was found guilty of defrauding investors after being fired from a previous company, Retrophin. The government is specifically accusing him of...

...According to the SEC complaint, Shkreli engaged in "widespread fraudulent conduct" from October 2009 through March 2014. His actions, according to the SEC, included:

--Misappropriating more than $1 million of his hedge fund investors' funds.

--Lying about his hedge fund's investment returns.

--Fraudulently conspiring with Greebel to get Retrophin to issue stock and deliver cash compensation for faux consulting contracts to cover up disputes with MSMB investors over the hedge fund's performance.

The SEC is pursuing a disgorgement of ill-gotten profits, civil penalties and a ban on serving as an corporate officer and director...

Nice to see justice in action. The article does not go into penalties, but jail time can accompany fraud, not to mention a separate case of former-employer Retrophin seeking damages of 65 million.

With a little luck, Shkreli will be taken to the cleaners, and will have no future in big business.

@Archangel3371: I'm guessing the federal government has been scrutinizing the hell out of him after his activities in the pharma industry and just waiting for him to slip up.

Really hope he stays in jail for a long time unless he ends up being not guilty. Sadly while you have scumbags like him actually get punished for their horrible crimes, other times they can also get away with it so I hope he gets what's coming to him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was tricked or set up considering how he became one of the most hated people in the world. He wouldn't get much sympathy even if that were true.

Oh no. Now he will have to be on a cut rate rowing club in a minimum security white collar prison for 7 months. How tragic for him. I hear they don't even trim the crust from the watercress sandwiches and there is hardly any cucumber slices in the water. God... the inhumanity of it all.

no, but it was for an AIDS-related illness that stems from a compromised immune system. Forgot the name of the exact thing (I believe it was a parasite), but it is almost exclusively seen in either AIDS patients, the incredibly sick/dying, and the very old.

I hope he gets HIV in prison and then comes to need that drug he raised the price on 5000%.
