[QUOTE="dreDREb13"][QUOTE="RobboElRobbo"][QUOTE="Darth-Caedus"] Apple computers last a hell of a lot longer then most Windows computers in my experience. That alone is worth the price.

Nope. They last exactly the same. You just need to know how to maintain them, which isn't very difficult anyway.

Yeah, my laptop's still going strong and it's around 2 or 3 years old. Granted, it's slowed a tiny bit due to my hard drive being filled up, but continuous defragging and cleaning will keep any laptop going strong for a long time, further negating any need for a Mac.

Our old PC is 8 and still good as new. When it slows just reformat it, back to good as new speed again.

It's worth it if you have a Windows XP, Vista, or 7 so you can run Boot Camp on it. lol. (seriously)

[QUOTE="RobboElRobbo"][QUOTE="dreDREb13"]Eh. Macs have lost that edge over PCs in this day and age. Why would it at all be better? What makes Macs better at that? Magical fairy dust? All a person needs is a quad core processor with ample amounts of RAM and a decent video card. I recently made a computer that blows through video editing for around $900, compared to a $4000 Mac with the same specs. As for a Macbook? They ARE nice machines--just waaay overpriced. I wouldn't recommend it, but I guess if you want it, it'll last you a long while.dreDREb13

Yep, I built a PC last year for $500 Canadian and it's amazing at video editing.

I think it's just become some sort of a stereotype for Macs--and it was true a while ago, but the gap's been closed, now.

Not necessarily. Unless you're using Avid's range of programs, Macs still appear to have an edge against PCs. I've personally used Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and Illustrator on both and with the Mac their just seemed to be less waiting time. And as for video editing, Final Cut Studio just seems to work amazingly well. The only thing holding you back on that worksuite would be your preference over workflow.

You could say that the speed difference between the two are insignificant compared to the output, but then again, you'd be talking like an amateur. Speed is everything when it comes to media design. Not just hardware tech crunching numbers behind the screen, but the entire work flow as well.

I only know a few of my colleagues who truly detest a Mac's workflow. Most usually, they've used Windows workflow most of their life, and/or they're Linux fanatics. If Apple is the fascist regime, Linux is the socialist revolutionaries. They don't gel well at all :P

Reformatting? I remember those times

Mac fans may cock an eyebrow, but them Linux boys? They could keep their computers on for years and still receive no slowdown :D
