Seriously, this album is ridiculous! This guy has the flow of an old school hip hop poet, spits words like fire, and beats match. The best thing about it? Doesn't drop none of that "gagsta-commerical" bull every other line -- ie references guns, naked women, violence etc.

From Saigon's Blog, who originally was going to quit the hip hop scene, but has now changed his mind:

I got a very appreciated phone call from my brother Lupe Fiasco that really made me look at things from other angles.....Shout out to that brother and congratulations on that CRAZY album... Support that.

Did I forget to mention, Lupe Fiasco plays video games at the level as many of us at Gamespot? Heck, his next album will be called LupEND -- referencing how old school arcade games only let you put in three letters in the high score list, before it added END to it.

There is a lot of emo rockers on this site, so i doubt this album will recieve the credit it deserves. By far the best hip hop album this year, so many great songs.

Yah, it's crazy how many good tracks are on the album, especially when each song is so deep. I don't know how he did it in a year. It's crazy.

such a shame Lupe doesnt get appreciated, while everyone seems to go crzy over weezy (whihc BTW sucks)

10% rap, 5% rock, 85% metal.

Mostly Run DMC, NWA, Beastie Boys, Aesop Rock, and Public Enemy.

Not remotely close to AoTY. That belongs to Blu & Exile's Below the Heavens. Regardless, it's an alright album, but the mid-end of the album isnt that good. B05T0N

I almost bought that CD today. But I wasn't sure how it was. They were playing it in Newbury Comics and it seemed DAMN good, but I was out buying OTHER people gifts, not myself :P. I think I should pick it up though, Lupe really is bringing old school back, with a new school twist. I love it.nickyb628

I really like Lupe a lot. I enjoy rap music but I can't stand all the lyrics about "thugs and hos." Artist like Lupe and Kanye show how powerful rap really can be... it's god stuff.

Although I do have to admit I am pretty much obsessed with Girl Talk. Does anyone listen to that?

It's my favorite of the year so far.

So much darker than F&L, and better.

Girl Talk is aight... catchy mashups but I don't think it's anything better than every other hip-hop mashup you see out there. They've having some Girl Talk concert in my college town next month and I was actually thinking about going for the heck of it....

I enjoy the album more than I enjoyed Food and Liquor so many good tracks, nice lyrics not the BS you hear in most new school rap. After buying the new Wu-Tang clan I needed an rap album that was good.jasonharris48

I totally agree with you there. While I liked Kanye's album, it was only a few solid tracks that had me hooked. The rest of the album felt... bland. Jay-Z's new one was nice too, but once again, felt like I'd been there done that.

Lupe is fresh, and rare. How often do you hear a poet spit fire now adays? Even Talib's new tracks have been mainstreamed up.

Actually, the song "The Cool" is on Food & Liquor, not the album "The Cool".

I really, really love this CD. In particular, the middle of the CD is outstanding -- Hip-Hop Saved My Life, Intruder Alert, Streets on Fire, and Little Weapon. The only song I don't really like on the CD is "Go Baby"

Ghostface killahs - Big Doe Rehab or Cilvaringz - Cilvaringz deserves Album of the year

Lupe cant compare to those dudes
