I'm sure applications for Colorado colleges have skyrocketed since they voted to legalize pot. I still can't touch the stuff but I could care less as long as they don't act like morons like college kids at their first kegger.

The new shops card. You have to be 21 or older.

TBH, this doesn't really change much. Before this latest law passed, all you needed was a medical marijuana card, which was incredibly easy to get anyway. The only diff between these shops and the shops that have been open for years and years in Colorado is you don't need to register for a card but you buy at a about a 20% tax rate ($50 worth of weed nets you $10 in tax).

You are also allowed to grow your own without a license (up to 6 plants) but they have to be in an enclosed and locked area (not just out in the middle of your backyard).

Colorado had a massive bubble burst with medical shops. It's a pretty high profit business and I know a lot of people who went into it but the sheer number of shops that opened up turned out to be unsustainable so a lot of them closed within a couple years. Now with this new law it'll probably get even worse.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Based on every conversation I've had with friends in law enforcement on the topic, weed stinks. That makes it great for search and siezure because it's one of the most detecable drugs, and when they find weed they usually find other stuff (guns, coke, heroin, etc).

I just hope traffic deaths do not increase in Colorado because more people are driving while high.

Lets say the increase is negligible, would you trade that for all the lives ruined because of people going to jail for marihuana possession?

Like I said, not much is going to have changed. Weed is already everywhere here, now it's only slightly more accessible.

This guy was actually a Iraqi war vet who is suffering from PTSD. There are groups trying to get approval to give people with PTSD access to pot to relieve some of their symptoms.

Of course, he may have been high on some other medication he was being given for his condition.

Or he might be incredibly nervous, what with the six+ cameras mounted directly on his ass.

That is interesting. Unless the federal government does something about this, all fifty states could very well support legal marijuana. I do anticipate some states being more resistant to any legal use of this drug.

Seriously? if someone doesn't want to go to jail and have their life ruined they could always, oh I dunno, not smoke weed...if they're dumb enough to get caught with it then how productive were their lives going to be really?

This is fantastic. Congrats to colorado, soon enough even the morons who fought against it for so long will have to admit that it's a benefit to the state.

Now just to get that movement to head East...TO MISSOURI!!! :D

I'm glad law enforcement don't really control or have any input in the laws they're required to enforce. Lets end this stupid cycle of wasting money and legalize this shit already.

I have a feeling potheads are already feeling disappointed with the legalization of weed. Part of the thrill was the difficulty of acquiring weed and now its gone :P

But its nice though, now they have different strains and products available conveniently and safely.
