Founding father and first Prime Minister of Singapore. He was authoritarian at times but post-colonial Asia certainly has had far worse political legacies than his.

He shall be missed, for he created a prosperous nation from a bleak past,he had faced troubles such as being a shield in the Confrontation,a witness to a collapse of a hotel, the great racial riot,SQ 117 hijacking and so on.

he's nowhere near as being a tyrant,my child,he's done so much for a nation smaller than his neighbors',he created a megapolitan from a poor kampung,he made the people prosper because his actions are worthy.

@Smashbrossive50: he reigned with an iron fist at the start but it was needed, just like a small child without discipline it will become an arsehole!

@dylandr: I guess you haven't seen much of politics,oh that's right...people in the likes of you wanted to humiliate politics because it's a never-changing thing,I imagine him being the new Stalin,he built everything, but never bitch about his hindrances,he moved on from the past to form a future for a coming generation.

the Singapore he built may hav a medium crime statistic,it rarely happened now, only a recent ones I know is of a knife attack.

question: what would you do if you were a politician?

if it was for me,I would imprison the bad, execute to death the hazardous, and educate the unawares

@hippiesanta: politicians today only care for themselves, they were meant to lead the people to prosperity, but they resort to private wealth, and now what happened, the followers defect(commit jihad) against them. if you look at Lee's bright side,he is a lot more fierce, fierce enough that hardly anyone would dare to oppose any of his actions

Great statesman, probably among the bests in the past 50 years. Singapore is an amazing country to live in and visit.

@bmanva: yeah,no shit! I've been there since 2005 and keep on going there for the everything they have to offer. current plan for Singapore would be the usual shoppers' daily routine, and don't forget Marina Bay Sands Casino on your final night after a booze trip down Clarke Quay,I heard lots of buzz over there.

@Smashbrossive50: It's also a great hub for everything Asia has to offer as well. You have Maldives, Thailand, Australia, China, HK, etc all a short plane ride away. One of my good friends was lucky enough to land a job there with Deloitte, so jealous of him. Only wish everything isn't so pricey there but you can't have everything.

@superbuuman: yeah, see how Lee make things happen, in the past, all what's among the city suburbs were of poor people's kampungs, but now it's an ever-growing concrete jungle.made you think it's LA in Southeast Asia right? of course you might!
