Late Night (11:35) Throwdown: Conan vs. Dave

I remember watching Letterman since he originally got the 11:35 time slot back in the 90s. I would also pass out before Conan but when I got older, I started to watch his show a lot more (even though it was at 12:35). To be honest though, I spend that half an hour watching Colbert and typically in Canada, a South Park re-run follows directly after (when either talk show host has their guests) so I don't find myself watching either anymore.

Conan O'Brien always amused me. Letterman oftentimes comes off as a pompous ass, even for a comedian-type. I actually used to watch Letterman quite a bit, but after so many times of him being blatantly rude to some of his guests. at some point I think I just kind of got disgusted with him. After the countless jokes I'm sure he (like everyone else in his line of work) has surely made at the expense of people caught in sex scandals, now we know he is a giant hypocrite as well. That he was cheating on his wife also only further validated in my mind that he really is a pompous ass.

The show's writers also seem to have run out of ideas. They've officially gone off into random weird-just-for-the-sake-of-weird territory. "Hey, let's drop various things in water and see if they float. Wouldn't that be great?" Uh, no, not really.

If you're going be ratings rather than opinion, Letterman has been handing Conan his butt nightly. What I'm wondering is will Conan still be host in a year from now.

Leno's show has been tanking hard. And if this keeps up, I wouldn't be surprised if they give Leno his old time slot back and give Conan the boot.

I enjoy Conan more than I do Dave. Not sure why, but my parents despise Conan. Because of his hair.

I like Conan and Dave, but I prefer Conan. Dave comes off a little too smug for my tastes.

Conan is usually non-stop laughs for me, Dave is just irritating and rude imo. I also think Letterman thrives too much on controversy as opposed to acutal comedy.

Conan definitely. But I actually kinda like Dave's smugness. So many complete idiots go onto talk shows without ever getting talked down to like it should be.
