Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1.
Spiderman: Far From Home - Didn't really like it. Every character just making light-jokes like nothing matters regardless of situation. Zoned out.
I've been hearing nothing but WW84 is terrible, among casual and core moviegoers alike.
You guys need to instead watch the latest Pixar flick. I've watched it for the third time now and it's absolutely stunning.
Soul was an absolutely terrific film. Highly recommend. Pixar has some of the best talent in the industry without a doubt.

It feels hyperbolic to say "Pixar has done it again," but Pixar really has done it again. It's refreshingly the most adult film they've done to date. Can't stress it enough but it's a Pixar film you don't wanna miss.
If you are subscribed to Disney+, there's no extra charge or anything like that to watch it.
The Highwaymen. Not bad.7/10. True story of the two men who went after Bonnie and Clyde. I enjoyed the film.
Rewatching some computer animation.
Finding Dory - you know, this is probably my least favorite Pixar film. Besides a handful of clever jokes and gags, this one does nothing for me. I don't don't enjoy Pixar just for jokes, and the key to what makes a Pixar film great is just missing here. Besides the movie feeling like a repeat of the first one, it gets way too absurd to the point I'm far down the uncanny valley. I know Finding Nemo had some absurdity - because cartoons - but Finding Dory just takes it way too far to the point I'm not even in it for the ride but being a skeptic to my suspension of disbelief.
Toy Story 4 - you know, Toy Story 4 is a great entry in the Toy Story franchise, albeit not my personal favorite. Toy Story 4 hits some emotional strings like many Pixar films do, but this one gives the emotion and feeling of losing someone near and dear, and the movie ends that way with a seemingly definitive conclusion to the franchise. Toy Story 4 is a great and worthy sequel, but it's one that will devastate to those that especially grew up loving the Toy Story franchise.
Zootopia - you know, I really like Zootopia but it's not a perfect film to me. What Zootopia really lands is its message and how it contextualizes the whole movie. My only real complaint is I feel like the movie has some pacing issues and drags in a few areas, particularly in the early acts. I just feel like the movie jumped around maybe one too many sets and it threw off the pacing, but the movie isn't ruined because the latter acts ramp up the story and gets interesting. we didn't really need the nudist colony scene, or the DMV scene. I think they could have cut out one or two sequences and better develop the existing ones and that would have helped some of the pacing. But either way, Zootopia is still a great animated movie with an important message to tell.
I watched WW84 the other day. I didn't like it but it's no worse than the other 30+ superhero movies. It follows all the tropes of the others. Standard, simple story with the similar themes as the others. Cringy dialogue with humor injected every 3 minutes for the kids. It was bad but I'd say most superhero movies are imo.
Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (Thailand)
3.5/5
A weird and at times hypnotic if slightly boring ghost/spiritual movie, with the kinds of long, lingering shots you'd see in arthouse. Shows how much I know about Asian cultures... The whole time, I thought it was Vietnamese. I enjoyed the photography.
watched soul with my daughters a few days ago.
they've since watched it like 4 more times, including this afternoon.
been walking around all day saying "quiet coyote!" to them :)
those pixar fuckers know how to make a movie.
I love real story movies or short series. The best one I have watched recently is Wild wild country. As for the movie is 'on the basis of sex'.
Last night I watched Scary Movie V. It was below average 5/10. Not really recommend, some funny parts, nothing major.
Django(66).No is not that shitty Tarantino reimagining.I watched the original and Man what a great movie. At first i was hesitant when Django killed the mayor's Men...aka massacred them and then it was revealed he was friends with the leader of the Mexicans. It almost felt like i was watching a corny modern movie were any type of minorities are presented as nothing but saints.I'm not white myself so that shit drives me mad in modern movies. But then the leader of the Mexicans started to play the fool and didn't give Django his share. So Django said **** it i'll take what is mine. After that the movie went from meh to amazing. It really was a great movie.
Die Hard with a Vengeance again! I disliked this film prior when I was younger, but as I get older, I appreciate it more. Still the weakest of the classic trilogy, but compared to Good Day, that really isn't saying much.
The Death of Mr. Lazaresc (Romania, 2005)
A very well acted drama that feels almost like a reality show documentary about a 62 year old man, a heavy drinker, fat and out of shape, who feels very ill, throwing up several times since the morning, having a bad headache, and needs emergency treatment. We follow him from his apartment to the ambulance and several hospitals. I felt bad for the guy, and I sympathized with the paramedic who stayed with him through most of it. Shows the poor management/communication and insufficient/overburdened resources and staff in the Romanian health care system, but it probably might as well have been about the American one. I don't know if I'm convinced by the arguing at the third hospital. But it was a pretty entertaining two and a half hours.
The Terminator again, with the original mono for the first time. I had to muxe the track into my rip, which a fan meticulously synced. Almost all the sound effects are different in the 5.1 mix. I didn't realize how busy that mix is. It gives a different atmosphere. Someone pointed out to me that the terminator's shotgun has an assault rifle burst in the revisionist mix.
I've also done this with a few others, like Halloween (1978). The 4K disc didn't have the original, only a very revisionist surround/Atmos mix. So, I took the mono mix from the included Blu-ray, delayed it with silence by twenty seconds, the length of the new Lionsgate logo, and then muxed it into my rip of my 4K disc. Like Terminator, the atmosphere is pretty different in the original mono. Funnily, the surround mix adds additional crickets on top of the crickets already in the original mono.
Really wish studios included the original audio more often. I'm jealous of new Bridge on the River Kwai buyers. Sony stealthily added the original mono to the new pressings of the 4K, which hasn't been on any version since before the restoration in like 1991.
My oldest son and I have movie night every Saturday. We've been on an "Orlando Bloom-athon" recently. We watched the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, then moved our way to Lord of the Rings. We watched The Two Towers last weekend and will be finishing it up with the 4 and a half hour directors cut of Return of the King tonight.
Signs.Stop calling him Father...ahem...i mean.I was raised as a Catholic and don't know a whole lot about the main religions in the US.But that thing really bothered me somehow in this movie.I was always thinking.Shouldn't they call him reverend?
Anyways...this was another movie i finally watched with my full attention. It was great. The only thing that bothered me was the scene with Mad Max Raymond.I thought it was wholly unnecessary and ruined the ending of this movie. He was like i trapped an alien by myself and also discovered their weakness...oh and by the by sorry for killing your wife and making you lose your faith in God.
*Re-watch
For a Few More Dollars. It was good but i think the sob story didn't fit the characters of the colonel and manco. They always looked like stone cold killers with zero attachments.I think this movie also needed the mexican guy from the first movie....forgot his name but i think he added some needed comedic relief in the story.
Slumdog Millionaire.Man i had a lot of misconceptions about this movie.First i thought it was just about the contest and i also thought it was an indian made movie.Props to Simon Beaufoy. He wrote a great story.I try and not get political over here but this movie is a primer example of how the so called cultural appropriation is a load of bullshit.A talented writer can pull a great story from a different culture as his.
