Fucking wow.

First time in a while I've been a little shocked, a little speechless.

Kobe always seemed like a standup dude, a real ambassador for the sport of basketball. A lot of mutual respect between him and his peers.

Feel bad for his wife and children.

Holy SHIT!!! This wasn't the kind of news I was expecting. 41 is too young to die.

I gotta wonder, what does Shaq thinks of this news?

Unreal. I watched him throughout his entire NBA career, I even saw his last game when he scored 60 along with his amazing farewell speech afterwards. I can't even imagine what his wife and children are going through atm. RIP legend

@Master_Live:

RIP, Kobe. I'm not a fan of basketball but this was still tragic news. No one deserves that. Especially when it also involves one of your own children.

Insane, one of the best players ever. Horrible news as it was also his 13 year old daughter and her friend and parent(s).

I saw him play when he was still in HS, it was a state championship game, he made all the other kids look like they were from a kindergarten league.

I agree. People turning this into something it isn't is just sad. There is no way this woman would of meant to say this on national television.

Don’t follow sports at all so I’m not too familiar with his specific professional accomplishments, but I do know he was up there at the top in the history of the game and loved by many.

Just terrible, all the more so that his 13 year old daughter died as well. RIP to them both. These types of passings are all the harder to accept, as their causes are typically so mundane. Just difficult to jive that such a life of accomplishments was so prematurely ended by what’s going to end up to be a simple mistake or technical error.

Can't imagine the horror Kobe must've been feeling in his last moments, watching his young daughter Gianna falling to her death along with him. RIP, Kobe and Gianna.

Even though she is ignorant, she didn't get fired, her fellow colleagues backing her up saying it was a stutter whereas it clearly wasn't. I heard she has done this before and she didn't get fired, just fined. She is now trying to make an excuse saying that she was trying to pronounce the Knicks and Lakers together, smh.

Seems plausible. Knick-ers. Sounds like the N word. Even if it was a Freudian slip, it clearly wasn't intentional.

Only one person knows the true intent of her words but society is at time in which it is has the ist/ism card on standby just waiting to be pulled and that is quite the sad yet truthful commentary on society of today. People are perpetually offended over the slightest of things.

I thought for sure this was a hoax. I found out when having dinner at a friend's house. Wow. I'm not shocked by much, but this left me stunned.

It's so sad and tragic, especially for his daughter and the other young girls who died. I hope comfort for Vanessa and his family.

Yes I agree, society has turned way too uptight nowadays. But intentionally saying the N word is inexcusable.

Yes I agree, society has turned way too uptight nowadays. But intentionally saying the N word is inexcusable.

But NO ONE KNOWS if she intended to say that, or even if that's what she said. It's entirely plausible she said Knickers. It sounds EXACTLY like the N word. Haven't you ever tripped up your words before, especially in public speaking? Knicks and Lakers are both basketball teams, and she was reading basketball news, so she very easily could have gotten two teams mixed up. It happens. I once told someone "How is you going?" because my brain wanted to say "How are you?" and "How's it going" at the same time, so "How is you going?" is what came out.

Now, if she was caught off camera with her mic on going, "Bunch of people crying over a n*," then sure. Cast your aspersions. But just ask yourself this: with SO MANY people watching the news, do you think she honestly INTENTLY meant to say the N word? On live TV, knowing she would be publicly assaulted and fired? Who is that brazen?
