Just watched the Max Payne movie...(spoilers, but not that it matters, it's bad)

I grew up with Max Payne. It was one of my favorite games as I grew up. When this movie was in production I was somewhat excited because I thought it could be good. But it came out and it was totally trashed. Well, it was on Comcast's OnDemand so I figured "Why not". Definitely my biggest regret of the week. I don't even know where to start...

- If you're going to make a bad movie, at least put some action in it. This had a low amount of action and the action it had for the most part was poor PG-13 junk. Everyone gets shot in the chest, nobody can hit Max (well, he gets hit by a shotgun directly to the chest - but I guess that doesn't phase him).

- What the hell happened to all the characters? It's as if they just had some gamer explain to them Max Payne's plot, and they couldn't remember it so they just tossed a bunch of characters into the movie that share the same name but no resemblence to the game's characters.

- Did they forget to give the movie an ending?

- Lupino...a super soldier? What? Seriously?

How hard is it to play a videogame, take all the interesting parts from it, and put it into a 2 hour movie? Why is Max a pencil pusher? Why isn't he an undercover agent? Why?! WHY?!

Aside from a few elements, I thought it was pretty decent.

You know, as I watched the movie I could only think "There is no reason for this movie to exist. None. Nobody is going to like it, it isn't good, but isn't bad enough to be funny. It's just a waste of time". One of the few movies I could say that about..jks22112

I'm with you, Max Payne is my favorite game of all time and this movie was an abomination. I broke the DVD in half and threw it away.

I thought it was actually pretty good. But then again my expectations were in the toilet, so I could only be anything but impressed by it. It definitely was one of the fewer better video game movie adaptations out there. It might have destroyed the source material, but it was still decent.

max payne along with the nightmare on elm street remake are the worst movies i've seen in recent memory. oh and add H2 to that list.

One of the best game to movie adaptations imo. It was a pretty good movie on its own merits too.

Honestly, when it comes to video game based movies, I think you NEED to add your own spin to it while trying to be faithful, because most video games' plots aren't well writen.

Max Payne, however, was an exception. I can see that plot transisitioning well into a movie.

Very few games are worth a actual movie.. Max Pain only proved this point.. NO WAY A REVENGE PLOT WHERE a guy lost his entire family? Yeah what an original premise, maybe if it were made in the 1950s.sSubZerOo

I honestly can't tell you how bad this movie is cause I fell asleep during it both times I tried to watch it, and slept until the credits rolled. Not a good sign though.
