Yeah, end of a "covering up child rape for at least a decade" era.

I'm not privy to the legacy of Joe Paterno. Why would him being fired be considered the end of an era?

It's sickening the amount of support some of these kids are showing a man that protected a serial pedophile. Like they said on ESPN, 10 years from now, those kids are going to ask themselves what they were thinking.

He had the most wins of any coach in college football history. He's been the head coach at Penn State since 1966. Whenever sports fans think Penn State, the first person to come to mind is always Joe Paterno.

I live and breath sports. He needed to go. He was a legend but what has transpired well overshadows that now and he needs to stop being glorified because of it.

Not surprised. Same thing happened when I was living in Bloomington and Knight was let go. Students went a little crazy as well and the police had to get geared up and use tear gas and pepper spray.

When the announcement came that Paterno would not coach again at Penn State, students gasped and hushed. Women began to weep.

This must be taking place on a different planet than the one I live on

He did what was required on every single level

He was told of something wrong and told the people who's jobs are to deal with it

That was the end of what he needed to do, he's the *#&@# football coach and that's it.

Again that is legally. That is not, however, morally. And the university has the right to hire who they want to hire. Which means if they find fault with the behavior of an employee they no longer have to continue employment. It's that simple. Though I find that knowing what is going on but telling the dude to keep it off campus makes Paterno disgusting.

It's not worth debating Jaysonguy...he posts in Sports Games Discussion all the time and he always goes against whatever the popular opinion is no matter what. I'm not sure he actually believes most of the things he posts.

1. That never happened with Paterno

2. He told the people in charge, it was their job to call the police

Again, he is the football coach
