I'd love to have a 2004 (2005?) Ford GT. They go for insane money now (even for wrecked ones) but having a 500hp supercharged V8 sitting right behind you in plain view would be amazing.

Nice! It would both amazing and scary having instant access to that power. The 2017 model is goes even further but I'm not a fan of the weird looking air intakes on that one.

We've had a few of these, but my picks are;

McLaren F1 (not a typo, not the F1 car, not the P1, the 1997 Road Car)

GTR Nismo (Black with Red accents)

F12 Berlinetta (in Azure Blue with Modena Yellow accents)

Yes I'm picky, but I like my cars, the only car I don't care about is the F1, because its awesome and I'll take it in ANY colour, even hot pink.

A 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo... Fell in love with it the first time I saw one in person, stunning car. To be honest all the 911 models from 1977-1989 look very similar but the 1989 version was perfection.

I mean good lord it just doesn't get any better than this...

Jeep Cherokee XJ with a 5.5" lift and 35" tires.

Something along the lines of this:

Of course, it wouldn't be street legal, and if it was, I probably wouldn't drive it anywhere on asphalt lol, so I'd need a trailer and a truck to tow it with:

Nice, taking it back to the good ol' days; when cars required skill to drive. That's a real beauty.

@bfa1509: haha yeah, Ford has done really well. This is especially admirable since they are one of the few auto makers that did not take a bailout when the economy went to hell.

As for Porsche, that would also be one of my favorite cars, and you're right about the skill; those older cars had heavy asses and a lot of power, if you didn't know how to take a corner you'd find your rear spinning around you haha

It was the Volkswagen Golf R400, but that was cancelled because VW decided they were going to lie and cheat.

But I have always loved the Audi R8 V10

I've had a long list over the years and it's an ever growing list.

A few off the top of my head in no particular order:

Porsche 911 GT3

Porsche Carrera GT

Ferrari 360

Ferrari 430

Ferrari 599

McLaren P1

Aston Martin Vantage V12

I could go on forever....

I really hope I'd never be supercar buying indulgent if I was rich. I mean, there's buying nice things for yourself and then there's obscene extravagance. :/

I know it isn't a typical "car" in the traditional sense, but it is referred to as a "large car" by the trucking community.

So, it's a Peterbilt 389 made to look like a Peterbilt 359 (old school from the '70's and '80's):

It would have this motor:

It would have this interior:

And I would love every single second of it behind the wheel.

I'd rather have a nice truck than any car. Even if I was super rich I wouldn't buy a car. I'd have a top of the line truck and a nice trailer to go with it.

@bfa1509: I'm a car guy sort of so I have no real prejudice to a time period, a well designed car can come from any era and any type of vehicle.

I currently drive a Range Rover HSE Sport, I sold my Mazda RX-8 when I had my daughter which was the same time I was transitioning into working as a full time photographer so I needed a lot of space to transport tripods, lenses, bodies and lighting equipment.

Would love to one day get a 1977-1989 911 Porsche but unfortunately even if I could afford its not practical for my life nor can I actually have two cars in London where I live because of the limited parking I have.

Also using a 4x4 for the last 3 years... It will be hard going back to a smaller car with a lower ride height :(.

But to answer your question, it is still a '67 Shelby Cobra GT 500. That's right, Eleanor.

I can't decide. On the one hand, I would love a classic Chevelle, there's just something magical about the classic hemi. On the other hand, I'm looking at these modern cars putting out 700+ horsepower and just creaming my pants. If I had to choose I might go with a Lambo.

Right now. The Tesla Model X has my attention. Its amazing how much the performance of a car can be vastly improved. Once you remove the heavy combustible engine.

Hi-End = Lambo Reventon

Somewhat affordable = Camaro ZL1 1LE or Dodge Demon

Dream Custom Build = Stock appearing 1989 Camaro IROC-Z with modernized suspension and a naturally aspirated 700+ HP LSX motor.

I own a 1969 Mustang SportsRoof (Fastback) and can't wait to sell it. Old muscle cars look badass, but always need something done to them. I'm ready for a modern toy again.

There's a guy in Colorado who has a full on replica of Takumi's Trueno down to the paint and decals.

These are really nice cars. Basically the same as the Model S except for the differences in the body style. I got one as a loaner while my car was at the service center and I had it for about a week. It was a 6 seat configuration 100D without the 2nd row center console (which is pretty much the ideal config). I can't argue the practicality or room inside, but personally I think they are kind of ugly compared to the Model S.

where to start

modern overpowered german sedans / wagons

m5

e63 - would also include wagon here for extra rarity / practicality

rs6

less practicality

90s on v8 ferrari

355

360

430 scuderia or 16M

458 speciale ( not striped )

812 since you have to have a v12

porshce 959 just for being ridiculous for it's time period

a big ass tahoe or suburban would be nice too

also, mb makes a sprinter van that airstream does rv conversions on that would be awesome for road trips

not pictured but also floating around on the list. chiron, holy trinity ( p1, laf, 918 ), some kind of lambo but their eh. maybe a huracan, p100d

The 6 seat config with no center console is the sweet spot. Three rows of two seats each with a gap in the middle row between the two seats. I had a loaner Model X 100D a month ago with that config and it was great. The kids could stand up and put on their coats inside the car before we even opened the doors. While it may be ugly, it's super practical.

This week I've got a X 60D as a loaner (which they don't even make anymore). This one's a five seater, so two in front and a bench of three seats in the second row with no third row (storage only).

my mate has a gtr (he claims it's had a stage 5 remap and is ~870bhp, but i'm always sceptical of my mates' car performance claims). i have a fast car but it makes mine feel like i'm driving in treacle. it's an amazing drive experience but it's a bit plastic-y on the inside. dashboard full of cheap looking dials. once i'd had a few drives and got it out of my system the novelty wore off.

i've got tons of dream high end sports cars. the next one on my radar (that's reasonably realistic) is an rs7. i fancy going back to a de-chromed all black car, something like this with the wing mirrors and lights done too

Eh, I got a 93 Grand Prix in good shape. That's what I've wanted. If we're talking about a car out of my league, probably a Tesla Model S P100D fully spec'd out. Or the new Tesla Roadster that got announced...
