I'm just wondering because it seems to be a trend with gamers. I know "metal music" is vage and unspecific, but nevertheless. :P

i think it's impossible to inherently dislike an entire genre. people here may associate metal with death metal, or black metal and say "no i hate all the screamo stuff therefore i hate metal"
but the majority of people probably like some form of metal whether it's a metallica song, iron maiden, black sabbath, led zeppelin etc.

considering this song is from a metal band, I don't see how one can say they fully hate metal. I can see how people can easily say metal is nothing but screaming since it's the steotype, but it's really not true. Luckily, I was able to look past stereotypes for other genres and am now listening to pretty much everything, so I wouldn't be surprised if people found out they actually do like metal.

I don't dislike it, but is extremely rare for me to listen to metal.
Metallica I think is the only metal I have on my ipod.
I enjoy listening to some of it from time to time.LonelynightI really hate every single sig and avatar I've seen you have.
screamo is the worstExcept for the kind of metal could be termed classic rock (like Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin), I find it extremely unappealing. Death metal and the like just sounds straight up bad IMO.

ive listend to metal for my whole life but now im not one of those closed minded metalheads that only listen to it.i enjoy avril.hollywood undead blood on the dancefloor skrillex.hell even the gorillaz are freaking awesome.i cant stand rap most of the time it just guys talking big honestly..and country is more emo than emo music. thats my opinion on the two. but i think metal goes with alot of games these days kids crave violence and what fits better with violence besides the barbie girl song? exacly metal
pop and hip-hop are radio friendly...chart topping and need to be refurbish..... A decade, their children will feel embarrass when mommy and daddy play their "down-memory-lane-songs"..................... But Metal Music never grows old... Fact! kids always feel that if their parents listen to metal, they are cool......cool parentshippiesanta
Well said and honestly It's the truth. There is a reason every metal head on the planet likes it pretty much across the board no matter what "era" it came from. I've only been a metal fan for around 11 years. Yet I still often listen to rock and metal from the 70's and 80's such as Sabbath, Testament, Judas Priest, Overkill, Slayer, Atheist, and of course Iron Maiden. As well as many of the more abstract bands only metal heads would be familiar with.
But the sad fact is whenever anyone makes a thread like this you get a bunch of people who think they know what metal is and say they hate it. When they wouldn't be able to name a current metal band on their own.
Worse still you also get a bunch of people who think they know what metal is and say they love it, and also can't name a proper metal band to save their lives.
Does Rammstein count as metal? I haven't listened to them as of late, but I liked them for a long while and that's really helped by Til's cool-sounding vocals. Can't stand any metal with hardcore screaming in it, though.
Rap will otherwise be the *only* genre I'll never put on my Zune/any future MP3 player and listen to in public.
screamo is the worst Screamo isn't related to metal. :| Why do people misuse that term so often?[QUOTE="GreySeal9"]

Many of my favourite musicians are metal artists (specifically in the Doom and Symphonic subgenres) but I can't say that I like the majority of what I've seen. That seems to apply that for almost any genre except for symphony, though.
I'm starting to go away from it. It was my genre of choice from ages 15 - 20, but now I'm gravitating towards the alt rock scene. Metal was great 8 - 10 years ago and it, for the most part, sucks now.BrianB0422i fail to see how it sucks now....
i fail to see how it sucks now.... It's becoming repetetive. There's only a handful of original bands like Animals as Leaders or BTBAM. The rest of the stuff is either way too extreme or way too "been there done that". The genre is just getting tired, IMO.[QUOTE="BrianB0422"]I'm starting to go away from it.
