Ever since PG was made, it really slow down OT and I can agree with a few posters that PG just took the fun away what we love about OT. But nowadays, everyone would rather go to SW but oh well. I still love coming to OT.
I'm not even sure why this place has a political board. It's a gaming forum which is generally hostile enough with console wars let along the endless negativity which is part and parcel with political discussions.
I think it’s okay, usually some decent discussions popping up. Forums in general aren’t as busy anymore thanks to all the new forms of social media.
I actually was against the Political Gamers Board when it was first created but I have come around to the other side, I think it was the right decision. The toxicity observed over there is better to contain it by itself. Online political discourse seems to contaminate everything it touches and we were beginning to see that by the end of the last Presidential election over here in OT.
To lift OT I agree the Sports Board should be folded and merge with OT. If OT can't survive without video games and politics then perhaps that should be the end of it. Plenty of stuff to talk about outside those 2 topics.

I'm still not somewhat sold if creating PG was the right call but I always thought by talking anything here on OT including politics would generate that OT itself isn't active and OT was king on GS as far as active forums goes. But however, I barely talk about politics myself, but I had no idea people here really love politics stuff, I guess users would rather talk about it if they have their own forum it seems.
Sports Bar is indeed pitiful and the NFL has already started, not a single activity talking about it exist over at Sports Bar.

I was in favor of the idea of PG back in the day. Not because I thought we needed a place for that discussion, but because I really wanted it out of here. OT was a lot more active before, but that's because it basically already was PG and what PG is has gone downhill significantly from that already low bar.
Gamespot should bring back After Hours? I think that's what it was called? You should have to be over 18 years of age to read/post. It used to have interesting reading and funny stories/pictures.

That's pretty much what OT was like..well not exactly. It wasn't as toxic as PG but it could get bad. Even in the non-political threads there was more traffic because there were more users in the OT board. And those religious, philosophical, political threads were glorious. PG is pretty much orange-man-bad threads. There's so much going on in the world and those threads will drown out everything else non-T related. And yeah, I used to frequent there quite a bit but not so much now. It's pretty much the same users saying the same thing over and over again.

I admit, I do miss doing those box office movie threads I do every Sunday and I would do it again like right now but once covid-19 hit, so did the movie industry and box office are on hold until further notice. I still love coming here to OT but I been going to SW alot.
@madrocketeer: Good. Don't ever start regretting that decision. I spend a fair ammount of time in PG, but it's because I hate myself and feel a need for punishment. Leftover Catholic guilt or something.

I'd argue it's the toxic environment which draws people away from here. The system wars is just a cesspool of negativity and trolling.

It's pretty much dead. Splitting off political discussions because some posters wanted OT to be a safe space. Good call.

I don't know. If you didn't split it off you would have more people here to generate more conversations about varying topics. As it is........it's dead.
