Is Obama a war criminal? According to people like Cornel West and Ralph Nader he is. What is your view? What about George W?

In the legal sense, I don't think he is, but I'm not fully versed in international law. Of course, those to the left would be upset with Obama for using drones and for Libya and Syria is strikes happen.

The right would probably want him to send troops everywhere, so they wouldn't think he's a war criminal, quite they opposite. They'd call him a pvssy when it comes to the military and actions abroad.

Whether or not he is technically guilty of any war crimes is irrelevant since neither he nor any US president would be tried for war crimes barring drastic changes.  Same goes for Bush...

Yes. And to some people, the Terrorists he's sending soldiers to kill, are freedom fighters. It's all about perspective.

I feel bad for the soldiers. Being sent to fight pointless stuff. I wonder how many of them are aware of the pointless war they have fought. Probably a lot.

That depends on who you ask. But until concrete evidence comes out that he explicitly ordered troops to commit war crimes, such as ordering them to intentionally torture and kill innocent civilians there really is no case. Troops caught doing that were court-martialed.

Some people may bring up drone strikes but in the end the strikes were aiming for suspected terrorists who forces had intel on. Even if you are heartless and don't give a crap about civilians, blatantly aiming for innocent people is not the way to win hearts and minds and the leadership knows this.

Exactly.  War crimes exist in order to further punish the defeated and claim moral superiority over them.  Viewing them outside that context is not very meaningful.

I would consider damn near all of the last 5 or 6 presidents war criminals. Too bad they don't live by the same laws as the "peasants".

I've always found the concept of being a war criminal quite strange. People who start wars and kill loads of people are not necessarily war criminals, but if they kill people in a non-approved way they are then considered war criminals. It's a very odd concept.

it's more of a question of "who?" rather than "how?"

TOPIC: yes, Barack Bush III is definatly a war criminal.

I don't think President Obama is a war criminal, but I do think that he's as much into war as Dubya was. We're still in Afghanistan, and a few weeks ago, Obama was hot and ready to attack Syria. As one person put it, "We're going to kill Syrians to teach Syrians not to kill Syrians." That makes perfect sense.

Obama is a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. I think the aforementioned things cement the idea that that Nobel prize was due more to political agendas and the fact that Obama wasn't Dubya than to the thought that Obama might be a true peace broker.

The leaders of the United States, both past and current, have a Napoleon complex about them where they feel they must "rule" the world by the sword. When the very same antics are shown by other nations the United States is horrified and disgusted yet this country gets a pass. Our leaders have authorized the use of depleted uranium and drone strikes that together have killed or adversely effected many people yet nothing is done by the world in response. Someone in Syria used chemical gas yet they are wrong to the point where an attack almost came to fruition. That's madness.
