Having been there I can definitely say you have almost nothing to worry about when it comes to crime, everyone is really nice and polite, and the food's great. The downside is the population density is very high, leaving you with very small homes and apartments.
It's a great place to visit, but I doubt I could live there.
I know Japan has cons along with its pros and I have not even been there. That said, I would really like to visit that country and possibly live there if there are career opportunities.

Having spent some time there, I'll be the first to say that they are very polite. But like their language, there's a public face and a private face, and privately most Japanese are incredibly racist. Not KKK racist, just 'we are obviously superior' racist.

Not sure if all racist .... but when I start english (with informal sign language) ..... the girls and boys start to giggle and blush .... just like in the cartoon.
And some japanese girls told me that they prefer darker skin man or someone outside their race including chinese and korean. lolz

From my experience and understanding on the matter, many Asians hate other Asians.
I'm fairly certain they have their problems and issues like any other country.
Also the whole " What country is the greatest?" has to be one of the dumbest questions asked since there will never be a single answer. Ever. Nor is it a competition.

This. Unless you've lived in every country for a good amount of time, there's no way to make that claim. Even then, it's purely subjective.

As a general rule, most Asians talk behind your back. The Japanese aren't any different. That's why a lot of the showbiz stuff involve a lot of gossip and intrigue. I've seen plenty of it in Japan, Korea, and the Philippines.
The only Asians I'm not sure of are the Vietnamese. I've never been to Vietnam. But, I have met plenty of Vietnamese folks back in Oklahoma. I'd say, they're the easiest Asians to get along with.
Well, Japan is a great county, I've been there several times now. However, like any country there are some things that are not favourable. On the social equality front it is kind of conservative, no gay marriage, women aren't treated equally in the workforce, things like that. Plus the country is quite xenophobic, the Japanese just have a thing to package it quite eloquently and politely haha. There's a great sense of community, which is a great thing in some ways, but in others it puts a lot of stress onto the Japanese. It's absolutely an amazing country to visit, but I think I'd become unhappy if I'd lived there.

seriously .....most japanese man grows beard ... and usually their lower jaw get's darker if not shave for a day. and many of them have wavy hair .... unlike the chinese... hair are stacks out verticaly like porcupine after shower.
some of the chinese believe is that hairy people are a sign of omen .... that is why many of them dont like the japanese.
I wouldn't mind visiting but I probably wouldn't want to live there. My wife is Filipino, so her family is still a little sore at Japan considering what Japan did in the Philippines during World War 2.
Id love to visit Japan mainly for their tech advancing culture. Just as I would love to visit Germany for their engineering prowess.
As for greatest country, I don't care for that nonsense, as I get tired of hearing here in the US that we are the greatest. Lines in the sand, and the monumental insanity that goes on to protect them, are not signs of a civilized society.
Not really, at least it is no longer close to be entitled to such an epithet. Japan is more of a once great country that is currently heading straight for the gutter.
Nope. I lived there for 2 years, and while it's a great place, definitely not the greatest. It's all about your experience though. Personally I love my American lifestyle, but I do miss Japan at times. America is my main jam.
