Is it really worth paying 500 bucks for Shure Sound Isolating Earphones?

I realized the 210 series cost 300 bucks, the 310 series costs close to 500 bucks, and the 530 costs like 800. My question is, is there a difference in the audio quality? I'm an audiophile but not a hardcore one.

Depends on who you are. If you're doing professional audio work, especially in environments that are noisy at times, they could be exactly the right price for what they provide you.

Yeah, probably not the best investment. Those Shure earphones are basically personal/portable audio monitors, and not really the best choice for personal music listening unless you're some crazy audiophile. Just get some Bose noise canceling earphones/headphones.

Or unless you wanna get hit by a car or something because you can't hear anything going on around you >_> I'm sure you can find something much more enjoyable for $500.

Realistically, those are by Monster, and Monster generally means good quality, but probably overpriced for what they put out. Furthermore, the TC wants/needs noise canceling or isolating, which isn't the case with the Beats, IIRC.

I'd say NO. $500 for headphones just to listen to music is in no way worth it to me. Unless you have plans to do some recording or whatever in the future I'd spend my money elsewhere.

Oh they are noise isolating believe me. I can't hear anything but my music on the bus.

however to each his own, personally many people think those "high quality" Shures and Boses are also pos's =\

Unless you are a serious audiophile or work in the music industry, $200 is the max you should go IMO. I got an Ultimate Ears FYI, Shure earphones are mostly overpriced for what you get.

go buy 10 dollars earphones and give the rest of your money to the government.. you don't need 300-500 dollar earphones. It's not helping the human species advance. Socialism.. is good. imagine how much money would go put into research.. public education... health care. Population control. etc..

I just have some cheap 5 dollar headphones. They play the music I want, and that' fine for me. 800 dollar headphones are obviously a rich people toy.

I did a little more research, and indeed they are. They could be fine, it's just the general sentiment of the engineer and audio post people I've been around at my workplace that Monster products are generally overpriced for what they ultimately give the user. Furthermore, there are generally mixed to negative sentiments about audiophiles for that matter.

Quick question TC, what genres of music are you planning on listening to with these earphones?

They make those things for the same sort of people who buy 120 GB mp3 players. Complete waste of money.

Many people use all 120gigs. Many people are limited to Apple, because they're the only company to my knowledge to make a 160 gig

You can fill up 120 GB, but you can't "use" it. There's such a thing as moderation, and even for the people who have 200,000 songs in their collection, it doesn't hurt to show it once in a while. After all, you can only listen to one song at a time.

Hey DivergeUnify, how are those ES7's holding up? The 530s better? Ill have to cheak this out!

Also, you should try to listen to the new Shure 840 Headphones. They sound alot like the 530s I hear and they are cheaper, but they don't isolate as well as the 530s...

Holding up pretty good. The first 2 weeks I had them the cable got snagged on a steel edge and ripped, but I got the cable replaced for free. After a couple months of bending the metal frame they're also quite comfortable. I tried the 530s on in Miami International airport and, particularly the highs and mids, smoked my ES7s. Even after a couple seconds of listening. When I listened to the same song later, it felt very... dull
