Is it lame to ask a girl out with a text?

I wasn't sure so I thought well everybody in OT loves these threads. I think she'll say yeah but should I call or is a text fine? (we text all the time)

I don't think it is. Not anymore anyway. There is nothing wrong with asking if she wants to go out on XYZ night through a text. This is assuming you two already know each other pretty well. If not I'd call.

I'd say it depends on how much you text and how well you know her. If you text alot and know her well, then go for it. Otherwise I'd probably do it in person.

You should avoid it ideally, of course if there is distance involved you wouldn't be able to ask to go on a 'date' in person, so it's necessary then :P

As for actually 'asking out' as a proper bf/gf type thing, again I think in person is better, but by that point i would've thought that you should probably like each other enough that it wouldn't matter anyway in what 'format' the conversation took place.

EDIT: Actually, that's a point, are you talking about 'ask out' as in the 'do you want to meet up sometime?' sort, or as in the 'I like you, do you want to be bf/gf?' sort?

in person: best option. awkward but makes you seem more confident than you actually are.

I suppose so..it would be more genuine and look better if you asked her in in person..

if you're asking her if she wants to go to a movie or something, i think that's fine through text. if you're asking "do you want to be my girlfriend?" or something like that, do it in person.

If you normally text each other then no. If it's going to be the first thing you text her, then yes.
