Just as I thought nothing could have been more annoying than her first song, she is able to continue to release more even more annoying songs time after time, if this was a talent of hers then wow she is fucking good at her job. This woman is not a good role model for girls and quite frankly any guy would would find her attractive is a softcock. I can't believe cheap hos like her can become famous...

Seriously I am just perplexed how she is able to come up with utter shit after shit that some consider music, those who like her, shame on you... Every fucking time her song comes on the radio, the only thing I can do is change the radio station. Those who can tolerate her songs, how do you put up with such bullshit?

well, that and write a big rant about it on the internet about how awful she is.

seems like you've committed WAAAY more energy into hating her than a normal person would who would simply ignore her altogether and get on with their life.

perhaps you're a closet fan and you hate yourself for it....

If only that was true, I'd be more than happy to admit it since I'm unashamedly a Taylor Swift fan despite her usual fanbase being young girls. I like a wide range of different artists ranging from the elegant like Adele to the more misogynistic like Robin Thicke and RedFoo. Point is I like music and can generally listen to anything. For an artist to acquire fame, there needs to be people who enjoy their work otherwise they'd just be a laughing stock like Rebecca Black. What I'm most perplexed about is just how the flying **** is Meghan Trainor not in a same position as Rebecca Black and quite the contrary she has become very famous. Yes her songs are catchy but in the worst way possible... They get stuck in your head and I'm pretty sure I'd much rather have someone scratch a blackboard near my ears than to listen to her "music".

@jdiggle: Musically Taylor Swift is far more superior than Megan Trainor, there is no comparison there because they are simply in a different league that is infinite miles apart... Taylor Swift is a very elegant popstar she has an excellent stage presence, performs at prestigious fashion shows and most importantly her music has excellent melodies. Amazing artist. Looks are very important for live performances in which case Taylor Swift's is very good. I've heard better music from videos on a certain online hub than Meghan Trainors crap...

Pop star got you thinking negative? Recommend a refocus on more positive and beneficial thoughts. Today's society could be said to incite more negative emotions than in the past, but you gotta realize there is always something better to focus your thoughts on.

Your comment caused me to question if writing a song made you an artist or if creating a song made you an artist (be it vocals or a musical instrument). Someone happens to be playing Red Solo Cup in the distance, and now I'm stuck pondering whether the writer or singer of that song is the greater artist.

Just thought you'd like to know about the personal hell you caused.

Here's the fact: When someone writes a song for someone else to sing as it it were theirs, or someone takes someone else's words and sings them as their own, is not an artist. Art is about self expression, and when it's not your own words you are expressing, you are not an artist, just a singer.

Dudes, especially on a gaming forum, seriously need to quit being so judgmental of women's looks. Is she a supermodel? No. But she looks perfectly fine and plenty of dudes would be perfectly happy to date a girl that looks like her.

Also, there is nothing to indicate that she is a "cheap ho."

That all being said, her music is not just by-the-numbers shitty pop. It's aggressively shitty. Like, it has no redeeming qualities. And she'll never be able to become a serious artist after making those shitty novelty songs. Not that she cares tho. She's making bank.

She is annoying in a sense that she has a chip on her shoulder against most men and seems to think that she is some sort of sex symbol that men lust over. This is of course despite the fact that most men wouldn't look twice at her unless she was literally on fire.

Her music is catchy, quite raunchy and more lyrically complex than the vast majority of modern pop artists.

EDIT: Haha, nevermind, he thinks Taylor Swift is the epitome of modern pop song writers.

Her new song where she says "if I was you I'd want to be me too" is sooo annoying and arrogant. I can't stand it. What kind of lyrics are those? Who on Earth says those things?

I had NEVER hear of this artist until yesterday when my niece showed her on Youtube. She is 4. The kids are eating this stuff up. I didn't care for it but I don't think she is scum of the earth or her music is super duper bad. Just didn't dig it.

Having said that Trainor wasn't thinking about me as her target demographic when she wrote that song. Probably wasn't thinking about you either.

Nope. Meghan Trainor has an ego the size of Russia.

Most mainstream music is pure garbage anyway. It's not just my opinion. Listen to the lyrics. The lyrics of these songs are horrible. I can't think of any current "mainstream", on the radio, song that actually holds meaning, other than Stressed Out (Twenty One Pilots) and Unsteady/Renegades (X Ambassadors).

I typically don't listen to stuff I don't like. Bitching on the forums about an music artist seems rather silly especially when songs are less than five minutes so the most of amount time wasted would be that. I think its more to do with the songs she write and its seems like insecure male losers take it very personal mainly because its specifically addressing them. LMAO.

I think Taylor Swift does write her own songs. She's pretty terrible tho. Thinnest voice in pop+songs aimed at 13 year old girls/=/amazing artist.

Seriously foxhound?

She has some of the most banal lyrics in pop. Her music is deliberately not raunchy as it is aimed at young girls. Yes, it is suggestive, but not raunchy.

  1. Taylor Swift (2006) – Sole author on 3/11 tracks, co-author on remainder
  2. Fearless (2008) – Sole author on 7/13 tracks, co-author on remainder
  3. Speak Now (2010) – Sole author on all 14 tracks
  4. Red (2012) – Sole author on 8/16 tracks, co-author on remainder
  5. 1989 (2014) – Sole author on 1/13 tracks, co-author on remainder

In pop music, if you are not the sole writer of a song, it essentially means it was written for you, and you added a couple verses or so. I do not count that as writing your song.

Hmm. This thread is actually getting quite entertaining. I was at the casino last week, after seeing this thread, and while at the casino I noticed some advertisements for a Meghan Trainor concert in September. Anways.

@GhostHawk196: My guess is that Trainor probably also does stuff at fashion shows, though I'm not really sure why that should matter. I don't really see why performing at fashion shows should make a difference as to whether or not a person is a good singer. I do agree that looks do matter to a singer's success to an extant. They shouldn't really, but they kind of do, especially as you noted in live performances. Though I've never seen Trainor perform live, I have seen Swift perform on tv on New Years Eve in 2008 and 2014.

@hillelslovak: You make an interesting point. If the singer didn't write the song is it really the singer's art or is it the writer's art? What if the singer collaborated with the writer (I think in some places the writer writes the whole thing) in the writing process. I think there could be an artistic element in how the singer expresses the words in song even if the singer had no role in the writing process. One problem I do have with the music industry is that it seems the singer gets pretty much all the fame and probably too much of the money (though songwriters probably make good money), I think the tech guys (the guys who set up the equipment) and the back-up dancers probably don't get as much money as I think they should. Also on this subject, If I remember correctly I think Trainor started out as a songwriter; she originally wrote "All About that Bass" to sell it to Beyonce, but in the end ended up singing it herself.

@GreySeal9: Yeah he is being too harsh on Meghan's looks. It seems kind of mean to me. I could understand him criticizing her music if he doesn't like it, but if that's his criticism why bother mentioning the looks. And the "cheap hos" remark was totally unnecessary, no need to go after a person's character. But I'm curious as to what you mean by "aggressively shitty".

It means that her music is not just garden variety shitty. It's a special kind of shitty.

Her music is insulting, and retrograde. When All About That Bass came out, she kept burbling on about female empowerment. Her next single was entirely about how men should accept women even though they are crazy, irrational idiots, and it;s chock full of men not fulfilling the modes of behaviors she expects of them. Dear Future Husband, it was called.

Her music is the pits. I have two young daughters so I hear a lot of this stuff lol. Regarding Taylor Swift, I'm not a fan but I would say I think her music is mostly ok. She has talent and her songs aren't obnoxious like Trainor's. I actually took my girls to one of her concerts and while it wasn't a great concert for me, I thought she had a lot of energy, sounded good live, and even had some really good messages for her crowd (who are almost exclusively teen-aged girls and their parents).

On a side note went to a Panic at the Disco (no idea who they were previously) and Weezer concert a couple nights ago. Kinda got drug there but it was pretty fun. Panic at the Disco did a VERY good Bohemian Rhapsody though a lot of their other songs were too pop/bubblegum for me. Weezer sounded great live, but never was a huge fan of their music other than say it ain't so and maybe the sweater song (both of which were great live),

Her music isn't shit. You may not like it, but her music is totally fine. All About that Bass, Lips Are Moving, Dear Future Husband, they all have their place in the pop world.

it's pop music, try not to hate it or you just give it power, like a rash or a scab, it won't heal if you don't stop picking at it
