Would you consider a 3.5 gpa/4.0 pretty good, or on the average side? I also take all honor classes, besides in english, and spanish (spanish 1) And am a freshmen in high school.

Edit:Well am talking about underweighted gpa, am not sure about weighted gpa, because am not sure how much classes such as bsic, world geopraphy, bible are worth out of a 5.0.

But I would say my gpa would be a 3.8-4.2 underweighted

4.0 gpa is the best gpa you can get... But if you are in high school, it's pretty easy. If you are in college, however....

a 3.5 and a 27 on my ACT got me a $4000 a year scholarship to a pretty legit engeneering school so yeah its pretty good

I would definately suggest always taking at least a few honors classes just to give your GPA a little boost, especially honors english

Well, if your taking honor classes then you should have a higher gpa than 4.0 though. So I say you're average.

Its good for earning scholarships. But when it comes to college they don't really care what your GPA is besides getting into the school. Once you get in they don't care what you took in high school as its not to their standards.

Mine's got 3.5 GPA in final examination for last semester ago and that GPA level is the minimum requirements to get Dean's List.

It's decent if you're in all honors. Nothing really special though for a freshmen. Try to get it up to like a 3.7ish, I'm sure you can do that. :D

Considering that is not at all the average, it cannot be "average at best" :P It's certainly above average. I had a 4.0 in high school but honestly it didn't do much besides maybe net me a higher state grant. People with 3.5 gpa's still got into my college, received financial aid, etc. In college I have a 3.75 (I believe..) but again, a 3.5 is still certainly good. Someone likely believes my 4.0 and 3.75 aren't all that great (probably most of OT..) but I would never let it bother me. Haters always gonna hate.

'Average at best for anyone that really tries' would have been a better phrasing I suppose. I tend to discard those that don't care/try from the data pool. A 3.5 is only half A's and B's. IMO that is nothing to be proud of if you are trying to get good grades. If you aren't trying, then odds are you would not care what other people thought

It's alright. I would describe it as "doing what you need to get by whilst enjoying your childhood". To achieve the best of the best I would describe it as "putting homework above your happiness".

No problem! On average the other people in all of my AP/Honors classes have an unweighted gpa of 3.7-3.8, and that's why I suggested it. My weighted gpa is about a 4.57, but that's not really the point here. Unweighted, my cumulative (junior) is a 3.97 I do believe.

If you don't try/care, then it seems pointless to count you. ...they throw out exam scores of people that just choose 'c' the whole way down (similar notion)

It is ok for an unweighted GPA, but it isn't too impressive for a freshman. But unweighted GPAs can be deceiving. Unless your unweighted GPA is really low, then your weighted GPA is much more important. I would try working that out. If a class isn't listed as honors, then you don't get an extra quality point for it.

If you have an unweighted GPA of 3.5, you probably have mostly A's and B's, which is pretty good. Your weighted GPA would probably be in the upper 3's or lower 4's, which is pretty good. Assuming you do well on the SAT/ACT and keep it up through high school, you can get into most colleges. If you want to get into the above average ones though, you should have your GPA in the 4's. For top colleges, upper 4's or 5's.

And just to brag, I (junior) have a 4.0 unweighted and a 4.75 weighted :D

I mean that's fine. i had like a 3.6 GPA weighted in high school, which I think probably held me back a little bit in terms of colleges but you have a long time to worry about all of that. I would say just don't even give it any thought yet.

I don't know if it's been said but extra activities are essential too. People who have a 3,5 GPA and have extra stuff like sports, math club, glee club and etc are more sought after.

I think it's above average. It will get you into most colleges. Do you do any activities in school? That might help. Also, if you're a minority. :P
